Have to say, unless its his PC doing that i'd prefer to have the matching cabs. And without trying to have a tremendous ego moment i could probably do a better cover as Lem's not always using chords. It is nice to see a video of the 1992LEM however, honestly never thought i'd see one on youtube.

A better cover? Well, I've seen and heard many people playing Motörhead songs, but this guy is one of the best. Playing a bass in "Lemmy style" is a very uncommon thing.
I would be very interested in your cover version. Maybe a MP3 or youtube?

Look i'm sorry if my comment comes across as egotisical but i have seen a lot of people copy Lem's technique on Motorhead songs, as well as using their own techniques on non Motorhead tracks. Using Lemmy's style isnt uncommon, and a lot of people know he uses chords and they tend to go a little nuts, its a mixed bag of chords and single notes, or say on road crew, an open string and an octave note. As for a cover i dont have any working gear at the moment as i've just fixed my PC but i'd be happy to post one soon

Hm, for the best possible "metal" & Lemmy sound... which Rick should I get?

I just don't agree I havn't seen/heard a bass player with a style comparable to Lemmys (and please don't forget I'm a bass player myself). We are the road crew is a very good point - if you have notes/tabs for bass which are correct (I have seen soooo many wrong ones) please send them to me. I'm looking forward to your cover. I currently try to nail the bass solo on Lost in the ozone and that's a real hard one Rather easy to play, it just doesn't sound the way it should.

Hm, for the best possible "metal" & Lemmy sound... which Rick should I get? The bass is important but the amp is as much or even more. I'd suggest a 4003. They are easy to get (okay, not that easy, but easier than others) and you can get close to Lemmy. A 4004 has a different sound (I've got two of those), they are closer to the hardware Lemmys play these days, but they are really hard to find and the neck is very fat. I like that, most people don't. Avoid the 4001 (unless it's a V63, but they are VERY hard to find. I got one, but it's currently not usable due to neck issues. A luthier has it right now, hope he can fix it). The 4001 are great basses, but setting them up is not easy and should be done by someone with experience. Prices are high, they are part of the "vintage madness". People pay way to much money for old instruments.

Ty, Iron Fist. But what about the amp? yeah, that's a difficult one. Solid state amps are usually built for clean sounds. I use a Gallien-Krueger, it stays clean even at earthquake-volume. Not usable for Motörhead-Sound. Using it with some kind of overdrive or a little distortion gets you closer. But not close enough, IMO. You will need some kind of effect, anyway. An overdriven tube amp does better. The Marshall 1992LEM is currently available. The price is somehow reasonable in the UK, but over the top in Europe and madness in the USA. But keep in mind that you need to crank up the volume to get overdrive. Your neighbors might not be Motörhead fans
