After reading your posts in this and other threads (also on the old forum) I went for the Dual Disc AOS. I found it at a discount price so low it would be a crime not tu buy. I am waiting for the disc to arrive and will share my opinion with you after I test in on my 5.1 system.

BTW, I noticed that the DVD-Audio version of AOS (also a Silverline release) is available, but I gather that to take full advantage of the DVD-Audio version of the album, you need to have a special player (not a standard DVD one) ?

I played my Spades DVD in my DVD player and it worked just fine, but of course I don't know...

I dunno about real quality of DVD-audio. A lot of hi-end systems are only stereo, which is good for CDs or Vinyl. And there're a lot of cheap 5.1 systems, that will not let you feel all the charm and pleasure from DVD-audio.

Don't know what you mean with cheap 5.1, but the Pioneer 5*80W amp does it for me when I hooked it up to two Sonab speakers.

I shall see whether much difference can be heard on my system soon smile

What I have to say though is that stereo isn't enough for me anymore. At least when I'm listening thru speakers, cause with headphones it's AOK (but I hate using them). I wish all movies and sports on the cable were in 5.1, and also that 5.1 replaces stereo format on CD market.

DVD-Audio has a higher sampling rate and wider frequency range than regular cd.

Yep, but there is still another thing on 5.1 systems i don't like - only one subwoofer. I don't like subs at all, imo they only give an illusion if good sound, there're no subs on most hi-end systems.

BTW, if you have nice 5.1 system, DVD-audio rulz. But LPs rulz a lot. laugh laugh laugh

P.S. sorry for my English. laugh
