Hello Everyone,
Note: TnT is for Tom and Tammy - no AC/DC reference intended
This is Tammy.
I'm here because it seems my boyfriend and I see the boys every 5 years, simply by chance. We met in April of 1994 at a Motorhead show in Cedar Rapids, IA. By day I was working for the club Big Dogs fulfilling the band's Ryder and later doing a customer survey for the club. Tom was a fan attending, from what I recall, was his first Motorhead show.
I had a sign over my head that read, "This is Your Chance to Tell Stacy How to Run This Place..." and Tom, a random guy with his good friend Jody [who protected him from getting a beat down from other fans for whipping them in the face with his hair], came to the table and asked me if I would give him my sign to give his girlfriend at the time...this is how we met. I told him to come back later but made him fill out the survey. This is when I, very innocently, gave him my number to do cross promotions with a club in the town he lived in. All business, right?
Tom is a HUGE Motorhead fan. During the evening I had the pleasure of teasing him about my getting to meet the band during the day, not as a groupie... [though cute...I'm not that girl ;)]. I must be honest here and say I wasn't exposed to their music enough to have been considered a fan [Tom has since changed that, as I did Pantera for him ;)] I remember them being very nice and cordial, and that Lemmy was near my height; which means I was eye to eye with him. Pretty damn cool.
Three weeks later Tom called to ask me out an a date. I said yes. We went on our first date on May 14, 1994. We moved to Florida in 1997 so Tom could follow his passion for music recording at the school Full Sail where he now works.
The next time we saw Motorhead was in Chicago in March 2005. Tom and I had attended the funeral of his great friend Jody who was with him the day we met. We had no idea Motorhead was in town. It was in the Chicago Reader at my uncle's house the night before were to fly back to Florida that we saw they were playing. We couldn't believe it and felt Jody had something to do with us finding the ad. Eitherway it was serendipitous and something that we needed to remember our friend who was always there for us. This was around the 10 year mark in our relationship.
Our third Motorhead show will be this Wednesday night September 16, 2009 at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL where we live. This is our 15th year together and it seems that Motorhead is always there for us. If they are in the town we're in we will always go see them play no matter what. I don't know what Tom would do if he were to meet them this time around, it seems only fair he might pass out...

You know what's funny? Tom still carries around the paper I wrote my phone number on for him the night we met...
This is our introduction and Motorhead story... they will always have a special place in our hearts.
Thank you Motorhead!
All the best,
Tammy
