I too agree on the vinyl thing
history would mean in this case that it belongs completely to the past,
and that won't happen.
one piece that is still in use is enough

"credibility-wise" it might be a good thing to have 'em, but sales-wise? forget it... frown remember the press-coverage after the release of "motörizer", regarding chart-positions? back then, a client told me about the plain number of "sold units" and i was pretty surprised how low that number was - especially as germany still is considered an "important market"...

@ blackadder: i don't think vinyl is history. in fact there's even some kind of "renaissance" at the moment - at least in gemany even the big chainstores start selling vinyl again - pretty expensive though. recently, when looking for the new "dylan"-album, i was thinking about getting the vinyl-version ('specially as the package also contained the album on cd). ended up buying the cd as it was less than half the price of the vinyl-edition...

Renaissance? Yes, for older generations who grew up on vinyl. Thats for them. I don't think it is for young people... Well, will see..

Agreed. There is a LOT of new vinyl being pressed. Even the bootleg vinyl market has taken off again. Nearly everything I buy is on vinyl, I only buy CDs for the sake of completeness and for putting songs onto my gaypod.

I buy a lot of Doom, Stoner and underground Metal. Labels like Rise Above, Southern Lord, Relapse Records, Land 'O' Smiles and Doomentia are fully championing the cause of optimum fidelity and heavyweight vinyl.

For the more mainstream labels the reissues market for classic rock music on vinyl is blooming too. Most of their new releases also come out on vinyl, although the pressings are usually limited and you need to know where to go to get them. But with the power of the Internet it's not really a problem to locate them.

Vinyl might be smaller than CD as a market, but it is solid. With the success of online digital downloads I would say the CD in more in danger of obsolesence than vinyl is. I believe there will always be people who want uncompressed, unsampled full fidelity music.

Yeah, but don't they compress the master tracks when they remaster them? Or is it just a CD-pressing related thing?

Lemmy and Phil joined TS for the song "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)" and Lemmy seemed a bit embarrassed by the compliments and thanks that Dee gave him.
At the press conference the day after they got the question if Dee or anybody else from TS would join them on stage, but like Lemmy said they already left so it's impossible... Another quite weird question they got from a guy was "What flower would you prefer to be?" Lemmy replied that he would like to be a flower that eats meat. Another journalist complimented APD as his favourite albums and Lemmy chose that with a smile and "Good for you!"

The gig itself went pretty good, even though the rain was pouring down from time to time (ironically during Another perfect day!) the crowd were quite enthusiastic when SRF:s houseband went up on stage with their Bomber rig. The pressure at the front was quite strong and I guess that at least 20 people were pulled over the fence... Normal for a Swedish Festival gig with the Head...

Later on I might post some photos from the press conference.
