Motorhead and AC/DC both only ever wrote one song each. Every other song is just a variation on their original song.

But it's a fucking great song! smile

I wasn't meaning it literally. I think Angus once said something very similar.

angus once said

...'critics say that we've made the same album 10 times, when actually we havent. We've made it 11 times' grin

He was joking. The film of him saying it is on the extras of the PLUG ME IN dvd.

BTW I love AC/DC

AC/DC are a good band, it's simple music that you can just throw and enjoy. It does what it says on the tin and you get exactly what you pay for, good, honest, straight up Rock N' Roll.

AC/DC play a certain style of music and do it brilliantly. It may be relatively simple to copy but if it's that easy to create, why aren't there a host of other bands doing the same thing and making lots of money?

Angus is a bloody good guitar player, ok he's no Clapton or Beck but he does what he does very well and puts on a great show at the same time. Malcolm is an underrated musician, his right hand has driven some of the biggest-selling rock albums of all time. Clif Williams and Phil Rudd hold down the rhythm nicely at the back, it's easy to dismiss what they do but laying down a groove, even simple one, is no easy task.

Malcolm is possibly the most underrated rhythm guitarist in rock, I heard a version of Thunderstruck from Donnington 1991 where his guitar was blasted over Angus's and the depth in his chord playing technique is beyond average. Also Cliff and Phil do a great job too. Cliff keeps it simple and tight and Phil does the same, there's no frills and they let Angus, Malc and Brian do the talking while they keep them on they're toes.

If you want simple and honest old fashioned Rock N' Roll with no daringly dangerous changes or attempts to modernize for a younger audience, AC/DC's the band for you.

Exactly, many an ageing rocker has made an arse of themself by trying to go all grunge, industrial or whatever the prevailing fashion happens to be. AC/DC just rock on regardless, and millions of people still lap it up. They must be doing something right.

They just THINK they can.

Another "simple" bass player I admire is Steve Dawson who played on the early Saxon albums. Not rocket science but he totally underpinned the sound.
