Hi, I'm a newbie and this is my first post on here but I have been a fan since I was 13 when I saw them at Deeside Leisure centre on the Ace up your Sleeve (that'll be the Ace of Spades) Tour in 1980.
I do have an opinion on this subject about Iron Fist (I was at that tour as well), if you remember Iron fist followed on from the best album they ever made namely the Ace of Spades. Even if the band had made a brilliant album after Ace it was always gonna be overshadowed.
Also (and someone will have to put me straight on this) I think No Sleep Till Hammersmith also came out very close to Iron Fist and that album is still to this day considerd one of the best live albums ever made by anyone.
Anyway nice to meet you all.
Mark

Iron Fist! The human voice treated with hydrochloric acid sounds like that, I imagine.

Iron Fist was the first MH album I had ever heard. I was blown away and fell in love with the band right then and there. It didn't leave my turntable (am I showing my age here?) for two weeks. I love the bit in the liner notes: "Noises by shouting and hitting things."

I dont know man about Ace of spades. I always liked "on parole"
and "overkill" more. So if it is now year 1982 I would vote for
those two more than Ace of spades. If you look on the past from
the year 2008 and saying Ace of spades is defenetly the best album ever I say NO WAY! Sorry smile smile

I agree. However, you had to be in 1982 to really decide.

Thats true. Im thinkin' like this is 1982 and it's not easy to say which album is better. I think AOS is better than Iron fist but AOS
and Overkill, Bomber, On parole, Motorhead. hm... I dont know, maybe I would still saying Overkill but its not easy. Today when you look on those albums you listening them different than people in 1982. When I listen those albums today, for me Overkill, bomber and On parole are better but Im not 100% shoure what would I say if
Im in 1982.

When the deluxe reissue came out a couple of years back I gave Iron Fist a really thorough going over and I think were it not for the tinny production it would rate as good as Ace of Spades - the songs on it are just as good IMO. As other people have pointed out, the fact that it came after the bands most successful album to date (at that time) did it no favours but it really is underrated - if they'd got a really top notch producer in instead of doing it themselves it would be up there amongst the best!
