I know Motorhead have not been using monogrammed guitar picks for alot of years. I managed to get a couple from Lem & Fast Eddie back in the 80's. They are just bog standard grey hercos 75 flex picks used by both. I've noticed on Lemmys mic stand the picks he uses today they look like they have a silicone rubber grip on them. Does anyone have one of these ?. I know alot of the signature picks are not used and just thrown out into the crowd.I've got a couple of Lemmy's from the last tour and Phil tossed these out ?. If you have any to show post them up please Cheers..

Lemmy and Phil's current picks (Either made by Planet Waves or Dunlop) usually come with replicated autographs and some are made form a similar design to the Lucky 13 range of dunlop picks with rubber coating to retain grip. Most artists who now endorse a brand of gear get their own private stock made how they want. That maybe explains the early days picks being bog standard because signature gear and endorsements was really a beginning market unlike now, where everybody becomes an endorsee for somebody and gets access to a lot of free merch in return for some friendly PR and mentions where possible. They get quite a lot of these and they do use them as well as tossing the extras away for freebies for fans, but sometimes they maybe use their own personal favourites.

I have an old dunlop pick made in about the 1990's from Wurzel marked with his signature, the Motorhead logo and Dunlop USA written on it, and there are two others for Phil and Lemmy that look the same (Albeit the signatures change of course) but I don't have these two others. I'll put a picture up later for you mate.

Nah mate, the Wurzel pick I have pick simply has the motorhead logo on the front with dunlop USA underneath and Wurzel's signature on the back. It was a little series dunlop did for Lemmy, Wurzel, and Phil just to keep and to hand out at shows.

Those picks you posted there are the standard picks for the band, these are what they use onstage as they get sent shitoads from the endorsement contracts, they go through a good few during gigs and usually throw the extras out to the cheering mobs haha. Some I've seen on Ebay from past tours over the last few years had signatures on the back but it's hit and miss sometimes. Also as far as I know, these have never been made in retail production so they are 100% artist only exclusives, so that does add to the value somewhat.

This was the pick i was thinking of this is from the 1993 tour and it's a Phil Campbell pick not a Wurzel. So i gather the dunlop picks would of been the Lemmy pale blue which is in the centre row above. This one here and the one you mentioned ?. Those would of been used the same time.

That black dunlop could be the one, looks about right. Lemmy had one like that with his signature and the same front in black and it completes the series. The pale blue one I believe would be later on but it's basically the same pick they just make them slightly different every so often.

And I haven't seen any other picks earlier than the 90's dunlops so I'll have to take your word on that.

I'm not doing to bad if this guys collection is anything to go on. As i don't know if the band used many signature picks before the Zoom/Phil C. Lemmy & Wurzel Dunlop series of picks. The pale blue Lemmy pick which is similar could be an earlier design. I'm looking for any Mikkey Dee picks i have some Lemmy and Phil Campbell picks to trade. Cheers for posting that link up Dr World much appreciated.

Does anyone know what pick thickness Lemmy uses? The purple ones make me believe it is 2 mm, just like I always use.

here you can see the different shades of purple Jim Dunlop sells normally. Mine is the deepest shade, apparantly Lemmy has the lightest shade of purple. ;-) Still thick to most people's standards.

Hi there,
Can anyone help with this question; I am after a Lemmy pick for my collection and am slightly confused as to which one he actually uses live. Is it the Planet waves one or the Dunlop? Or both? I know a lot of picks are put on the market that are fake for collectors. I do have a couple of Phil's that I have got from gigs.

Thanks.

I got one of his picks at a concert and that was a purple Dunlop 1,14mm with a black Snaggletooth.

The picks Lemmy uses on stage don't have any signature or Motorhead designs on them. They are generic purple or grey/black Dunlop 1.14mm max grip type. He uses double sided tape on them to keep them stuck to his fingers. He probably has a problem with dropping them.
The last MH gig i was at in 2011 Lemmy through out some picks at the end of the show. Those had a small Snaggletooth MH England on one side with a Lemmy signature on the other Dunlop make with silver holographic print. These one's here.

I've seen some new picks but i'm not sure if Lemmy is using these. As i have seen a signature type the same as this one here. Cool pick.

I would imagine Lemmy used the grey Herco picks from his time in Hawkwind. As they were a common pick and alot of bands used them back in the 70's - 80's. He carried on using them well into the 80's - 90's. I seen a recent photo of Lemmy and it looks like he is using the new black picks shown above.

I had a bunch of those grey Herco picks when I started playing guitar. They had raised lettering so they wouldn't slip out of your hand too easy. I probably still have some somewhere.
