A cover album interests me more than the rumoured acoustic album.

Rush did it awhile back, not so good though...

Fingers crossed,right songs,could be excellent.
I'd like to suggest "Born to be wild" and "Summertime blues" smile

I don't know if Phill said 5 more years but Lemmy always says he will do RNR until something really big stops him, so if Phill wants to retire, Lem shall employ some other guitar into MH, but I'd like to believe Phill will never quit.
Regarding the covers album, they should not cover metal because it isn't MH style, Rock & Roll more like it so I believe it will be more like a mix of classic twist with harder post 65' RNR eg: Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, L Richard, C Checker AND Led Zep, The Who, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, T Rex.
Maybe some punk in too? Ramones, Dammed, Pistols.. Well hopefully smile

I think that the 'Head would mostly cover some Rock and possibly some Metal and maybe Punk (Nothing like Thrash Metal, Metal doesn't equal Thrash all the time). 50's RNR stuff is already HeadCat's focus and there's no point doing something that you're doing with another side project when you created said project to do just that. Nothing wrong with doing a track from Chuck Berry in a Motorhead style for example, but if most of the album contained that stuff then a HeadCat release seems like a bit daft.

I reckon a covers album would be pretty cool but it would piss me off if it ended up being the last ever motorhead album.Better than a acoustic album though....It does seem like lemms wraping stuff up now, head cat 2nd done, solo album nearly done and now plans for a covers album......is he just going through his "bucket list" of things to do before retiring....he is 66 this year so whatever he does i think we should all be greatfull were getting anything at all....

Yeah 66 this year and a bloody great inspiration to us all. Well for me the thought of an acoustic album makes me cringe although I did enjoy whorehouse blues, but please not a full album it's just not what motorhead are about for me, but hey it's not my band and they can do what the hell they like. I think over the years they have covered enough songs to to put out an album in its own right, not sure about record company issues on that one.(Think there's a bootleg on vinyl with most of their cover versions, not seen it on cd though). Another motorhead album would be right up my street. I am however really looking forward to lem,s solo album and especially the stuff he's recorded with Rev Horton Heat, think that's going to be very interesting.

Although we all know a covers album from the guys would be fantastic, as is everything else they put out, the phrase "covers album" always makes me think of Def Leppard's "YEAH!" album, that cringeworthy piece of shit.
But covers album doesn't necessarily mean next studio album, we still might get an album of originals soon afterwards.
As for the covers themselves, Motorhead have covered metal before (Whiplash etc.) but it mainly should/would be a mixture of Lem's favourites from the fifties and Phil and Mikkey's favourites from the 70's. There are some songs screaming (in my opinion) to be covered; anything by Chuck Berry, Led Zeppelin's Communication Breakdown, some of the soundcheck songs like Deep Purple's Black Magic Woman, Black Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe etc. Would sound good alongside an updated Little Richard cover wink

They've never done a bad cover that I can think of, and some of them are much better than the original. I'm thinking of God save the queen, Master plan, Emergency. I also love what Lemmy and Phil did with the trooper, even though they didn't really change much. I have faith that whatever they choose, they will do it in their own style and it will kick ass.

Motorhead are known for loud, hard and fast rock music. They should never play acoustic
