I've done tons of Motorhead songs with my band. Singing them is a lot harder than playing them, especially some of the higher ones in A (No Class, Dr. Rock, Mean Machine...)

Lemmy is why i play bass. Every time i meet him i tell him that and he says "sorry bout that". funny. people do not understand that, and everyone i know says they have no desire to play the same make and model of an artist. Thats is why i play rics. I have three. My first was a 97 4003 Fireglo, then got a 1976 4001 Mapleglo and my last is a 1971 4001 in yellow. Its pretty easy to see my direction here. I am eyeing a 4004 on ebay, and i would have to add the pick up cover. Ed Roman has a 4004LK, signed by Lemmy, last i knew it was over $15,000.

Capitol Guitars in Minneapolis has the Marshall Lemmy bass amp. At $6,500.00 i do not see me getting it, but i figure i need to go look at it and see if i can plug my ric into it.

i have my own band and we have some of our own songs based on motorhead but we can play some motorhead songs we are the best at the game the king of kings overkill and a few more we are very talented for people who had no prior experience the first time i picked up drums sticks i knew i could play without lessons the same thuing for guitar though i can't play bass because knowing how to play guitar screws me up when i try to play it

Does anyone know what strings (brand) Lemmy is playing?

Dean Markley Blue Steels
I might give them a try (if I manage to find them; and if they're not expensive). I put a set of D'Addario Pro Steels on my bass and the clarity of the sound surprised me. Before that I had EB Slinkys, and they were not that good for playing chords (although, that could have been because of the shitty bass/pickups). However, I think stainless steel strings lack the low-end punch that nickels give. Man, I gotta get me some DRs.

Thanks! Please let me know when you found (and tested) the Dean Markleys. I usually play flatwounds on my Rics, but now have the original Rickenbacker rounds (they are still new, removed them right after I got tha bass) on my 4003. I don't like rounds but the sound is cool, anyway.
Next I'll try D'Addario 170EXL on one of my 4004's.
