You need a Rickenbacker, a cranked tube amp and the ability to play your bass "Lemmy style" (open strings, power chords and pretty fast).

Which part remains unclear?

why does he changed it? the old one was typical for lemmy

i dont know. i think lemmy changed his microphones after a few years. in 2004 he has got a sm57 , in 2006 he has the last microphone and now its a new again. my fav was the sm57 which he used in ???? - 2004

Well the SM57 is actually for the Amps. Sure, you can use it for vocals as well - but I think with the SM58 he seems to be using now the vocal sound might be a little better.
