No need to be lost in the ozone, there's quite some people around on this forum with extensive knowledge about the best band in the world.

I thought it might be a good ting to have a place where questions can be asked and answered without a new thread being created.

So if there's a question you need and answer to post it here and very likely somebody will answer it, if there's an answer to it that is.

can this be made a 'perminant' thread? confused (if that is the right word for it) so it itself doesn't get lost in all the other threads

as for a qeustion, does anone know if there are going to be anymore 2disc reissues of past albums, like they did with all the ones up to 'rock n roll'. Now that the band are on a new label is this a possibilty? cool

Good idea, but shouldn't this thread have a more fitting title?
I guess no one will ever see any relation between the title and the purpose of the thread now!?

what do people think of the 'Live at Brixton '87 ' album? is it worth getting? I've heard a handfull of tracks on youtube, and it seems the sound quailty is rubbish, but then again its got several tracks which arn't on other live albums. confused

It's an alright release, no prize winner but it's not apocalyptically dreadful either. If you can pick it up cheap or cheapish then do, otherwise I wouldn't break the bank.

Both 'No Sleep At All' and 'Brixton '87' are not rich in terms of sound, what NSAA lacks in low end sound quality Brixton '87 makes up for, albeit a rather muddy sound with little high end clarity. It's an uneven fight with little to decide the outcome, both albums (Despite good performances, no quarrel there) have flaws and redeeming factors, but both albums are worth having just to fill out the collection.

It gets a bum deal, but I love No Sleep At All. It's raw and loud and mixes classic and songs from that period. A great live document of this period.

That said Rock N Roll is one of my favourite MH albums so may be a bit bias.

Bootleg, yes. Either on torrent sites or on eBay most likely. It's actually a good show, pro cameras and audio, just a shame that the audio mix (Like most televised festivals) wasn't really setup to reflect the ideal Motorhead sound. You can hear everything about right, it just seems a little muddy.

I mentioned this in another thread but it didn't get much of an answer. I have a setlist from the Belfast Ulster Hal gig 2004. They opened up with ' Love For Sale' was this a one off ?. Does anyone have a bootleg of this show to say it was definately the opening track ?.

"Love for Sale" is on the "Everything Louder" Live cd,...Which is my favorite offical live Motorhead disc.

I remember them playing the song here in the States too, but can't remember if it was the opener or not.

Ok but is it the opening track on the bootlegs. Are these Live shows all from 2004 ?. I just found it a bit of an unusual song to open up with. A Great tune and one that is better again played Live.

i've got a few questions about the march or die album...
Firstly, who played drums on what track? i know mikkey dee, phil taylor and tommy aldrige were all involed but i keep hearing different tales as to which track they played on.

Secondly, who plays/wrote Hellraiser? I've heard mention of slash and zakk wylde, but in the album sleeve notes, zakk, ozzy osburne and lemmy are credited with it...? confused

Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor - drums on "I Ain't No Nice Guy"
Mikkey Dee - drums on "Hellraiser"
Tommy Aldridge - Drums (All other songs except where noted)

Philthy's drug habits had gotten the better of him by this point, and ' I Ain't No Nice Guy' seemed to be his swan song. Tommy was a fill live for the album and I believe part of a tour, and Mikkey stepped in afterwards and the rest, as we know, is history.

Ozzy and Motorhead have both recorded versions, and Motorhad's 'Hellraiser' features Lemmy, Wurzel, and Phil Campbell with Tommy Aldridge on drums. I believe the writing credits on 'Hellraiser' are "Lemmy, Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde", the same credited names as on 'Mama, I'm Coming Home'.

Right...
If my memory doesn't fail me here's the story:
Mikkey did Hellraiser, Philthy did I ain't no nice guy, Aldrigde did the rest. (The story goes that Aldridge offered Mikkey full credit but Mikkey turned the offer down 'cos he didn't like Aldridge's drumming. If that's a rumour or truth I'm not sure)
Hellraiser is written by Kilmister, Wylde and Osbourne (as far as I know), I guess that there's a slight mixup since Slash joined Motörhead for this album and played on You'd better run and I ain't no nice guy.

Slash played the lead solo as a guest, the song was already witten. If my memory serves, Slash was asked as a guest for You Better Run, and was given the solo on 'I Ain't No Nice Guy' after Wurzel felt his style didn't fit right given the song's approach.

Does anyone know if the promo CDs R.A.M.O.N.E.S/Devil I Know and No Voices/Eagle rock has cover art. I can't find anything on the discograpy and the sellers are saying they only have the "rear tray line". I'd like to have these but I want them complete.

Thanks

The R.A.M.O.N.E.S./Devil I Know promo does, it's nothing special but see here: http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=372028

As for No Voices in the Sky and Eagle Rock, I believe those were only on the ' The One to Sing the Blues' vinyl, unless they were released seperately.

Just seen the 'bluesbreaker (part II)' live album in my local record store, and i was just wondering how good does it sound? I have always thought that motorhead bootlegs must sound crap because of the volume. does it sound anything like any of the offical live albums?

As I said previously, Lemmy couldn´t play the bass and sing at the same time when they did DEAF FOREVER in 1986. This was very fun to watch though since Phil C was playing Lemmys bass and Lemmy was "dancing" around only singing. Phil C looked like a small kid from Kindergarten cos Lemmys bass looked so huge!

Well more like a 7-time-thing cos the tour was only 7 shows. I remember Dan Beehler (I think that´s his name) from Exicter telling me how happy they (Exciter) were when they were asked to fly over to Europe for these shows although it was a short 7 date tour. I got a couple of pics from this show with Phil C playing the bass. I must add that both Exciter and Manowar performed very well. In 1999 ( I think ) it was Dio, Motörhead and Manowar as top of the bill on the Monsters of the millenium tour. The 1986 bill was better! :=)

@Juggernaut: when lots of the stuff came out for sale late summer last year (those who know where the stuff is from, they know) I actually asked for for one item and it was for my buddy. Didnt get it from the bunch, got that last weekend from eBay.
Should have gone asking too (if I was wise:D) as I know that many of you guys here have asked a lot and bought/won sum rare stuff.
Mark if you´re reading this: your shirt is ready, just have to get it in my hands so I can post it:D

I've tried all over, no joy. Last year I got some tickets off ticketweb, they send you email with ticket on. print off and take to venue. only took 5 minutes to get ticket. Saves the agony of waiting and hoping tickets arrive safely through the post.

I think that website that posted the dates said they were released on the 15th April, which is next Friday.

EDIT: yeah, I just looked again and it said 09.15 next Friday.

Hi all,

I recently bought a copy of a compolation LP called The B Side Collection 1977-1982... on the label on the both sides of the LP it says 'For Promotional Use Only', not the Motorhead England logo like it shows here http://www.motorheadoverkill.se/ .

I dont have a record player at the moment to check its the right LP, but the guy i bought it from I get most my Vinyl from, it was new, so Im sure that I have the right LP.

So do you reckon its an ACTUAL promo or a miss-print?

Cheers

You'll have to say what section it's in and what year, the site link doesn't have an exact URL to the page as it's a flash-based site.

I don't think it's a misprint, but I don't hink it's a real promo either. Who makes promoreleases of bootlegs? Anyway, it's not the standard release of it so it might be somewhat more rare than the others.

I think they changed the name to Arount The World Vol. 1 or The World Is Ours Vol. 1... I'm a bit confused too..

by the way the recording sounds pretty good the cassette is still in pretty good shape after all them years. well the performance: no need to say anything about that we all know its fucking great !! but to be honest it dosent sound as if it was recorded back in 78" thats why im asking around.

The Watcher is a re-issue of a gig that's called What's Wordsworth.
It was recorded in February 18:th 1978 at the roundhouse, London, England. The band was billed as Iron Fist and the Hordes from hell, and that has also given name to some bootlegs.
It wasn't released until 1983 (I think).
There are plenty, and when I say plenty I do mean plenty, of different versions and re-issues with different names out there.

I am putting the albums on my ipod and i like to have album covers, and the ones i have found are very blurry.

@Callum: Don't you have a scanner?
@Motorajzd: Yes! They are all the same, it's also released under more names sometimes just "Live!". If there's a live recording and made '78 it's most likely that recording.
I'm not 100% sure, and it's Saturday night just after nine so I'm not digging up the bible to check, but if I'm not completely mistaking Britain's health resort is the same as Blitzkrieg on Birmingham '77.

Not sure if these are the ones you're looking for and if they are good enough to use, but I found these pictures.

BTW:
- I'm not really into bootlegs so don't know if these are the ones frown
- I removed the text: Special Guest Anthrax on the Hammered picture

The best size images to use for iPod covers are about 400x400 pixels in size and upwards, although the numbers should always be equal in the measurements.

Its a card sleeve replicating the original vinyl release.

well, as i mentioned few times before on forum, you can't find motorhead cds in croatia just like that. it's easier now when i got credit card so i can order from sites like amazon so i'm finally about to finish my REAL motorhead discography and be able to say i own all albums, not just those mp3s from torrents and similar stuff.
i don't own copy of "motorhead" so it would be nice if you could say word or two about that edition because i really wouldn't want it if it's just cheap card slipcase with cd inside. i'll order it with bastards so i would just like to hear what you think about it because i'm not yet able and i doubt i really plan to go into buying so much versions of same albums like some of you do

I bought Larry Wallis "Death in guitarfternoon" and I am very happy with it. I bought Brian Robertson "Diamonds and dirt" and I am not to much happy with this release. There are 4 or 5 good songs but if you look at it, complete album, it is a little bit pussy album if you know what I mean. It is not you know, a real rock n roll dirty album. To much commercial, pop/rock/blues album which everyone can listen, even those people who are not in music at all, like listeners or musicians. I expected more. Next what I will buy is Eddie Clarke "it ain't over til it's over", Hawkwind "Levitation" and Hawkwind "Live chronicles". I think those will be very good stuff.

No studio version has appeared yet so I guess there is no such recording. I mean, Bronze has released everything they got at least three times, so if there was something lying around it should have seen the light of day by now.
There might be some live recording of it though, I can't remember who sang it on Nottingham Rockstage bootleg.
