Marquee Club, London 1975 (?) pics... OK, I will (soon) attempt to upload a few original photos I managed to get a couple of days ago, which should be of interest. First of all, I have 8 photos, 7 of Lemmy with the Marquee logo in the background. In the photos, Lemmy is wearing a swastika necklace and a home-made Born To Lose t-shirt, similar to the one he wore on the inner sleeve for Hawkwind's 'Hall Of The Mountain Grill. The eighth one shows a drummer from the side of his kit. The picture is, unfortunately, quite blurred but it looks like Lucas Fox, not Philthy. Sadly, there are no photos of the guitarist, which would have been Larry Wallis back in '75, rather than Fast Eddie.
I checked the past tour-dates on this site and could only find the earliest Marquee date as April 1st 1977, the one where they were famously going to play their last gig and then break up due to lack of industry interest, which led to the Ted Carroll offer of a single recording session, resulting in the hasty recording of backing tracks for the Motorhead album.
As we all know, Lucas was long gone by this time. I checked the Marquee's own site and found that Motorhead DID, in fact, play a couple of gigs there in 1975. The link is at
http://www.themarqueeclub.net/?q=motorhead You then click on 'calendar of gigs' under 'summary' and checking 1975, we come up with Th 21 August 1975, with Motorhead supported by National Flag. They played there again on Weds 12 November 1975. There are no appearances listed there for 1976, which leaves us with the aforementioned 1977 gig. The photos appear to have been taken earlier than 1977 in my opinion but you will have to judge for yourself when I manage to post them. I'm no bloody Sherlock Holmes... Of historical interest maybe, my dear Watson.
