Haha, good luck with that gsr200. I have the same bass and I'm dying to get rid of it.

first: get a rickenbacker (good luck!)
second: get a second marshall amp
third: get a stereo-box to run both amps with the rick
fourth: turn bass and treble down and the mids up.
fifth: english distortion is appreciated

btw,i gave it up,cause i am not lem....
and yes,i have a rick..

I'm not a bass player, but I can't imagine that one can achieve Lems sound exactly without having a Rickenbacker and whatever pickups/strings he's using.
Anyway, why don't you just try out different strings, amp settings, etc. and stick with what you like best? For example, I'm a drummer and though I could play most Motörhead songs I can't play exactly like Mikkey or Phil. If I now used exactly the sticks and kit Mikkey uses, it would get even worse.

it's certainly not a good idea to try to play Motörhead after one month of bass playing.
Most songs are way to fast for a beginner. Lemmy plays a lot of open strings and powerchords, both things rather uncommon on bass
and hard (if not impossible) to handle for a beginner. You should learn yor basics for a year or so, then return to Motörhead songs.

Besides that: Only a Rickenbacker sounds like a Rickenbacker. You will not get THAT sound with any other bass.
Lemmys Marshall Amp is cranked up to the max and creates a very special sound, it's very different from what you get from a solid state amp.

After listening for over 30 years, searching and waiting for alternatives, I understood that there will be no other band like Motörhead. Never.

I used to play guitar before I started playing bass, as Lemmy. So for me power chords are easier.
