Got to agree Black Ice was awful listened to it once and never again, I have a stack of vinyl in the loft and had a rummage through here's one, Corpes Grinders - Valley Of Fear (1984). An absolute stinker!

Metallica St Anger. To this day I have no idea what possessed me to buy it after reading all the negativity from fans. I can honestly say I don't think I've listened to the cd all the way through even once.
As for AC/DC, Fly could have been a reasonable album if the production wasn't so shitty. Their worst album has to be Stiff Upper Lip. Couple of half decent tracks at best, backed up by an album that's browner than it's own sleeve. Dull doesn't begin to describe it.
Agreed on St. Anger. It's bloody terrible. I borrowed a work colleague's (he thought it was great) copy soon after it's release. Got about half way through it and handed it back to him the next day. Like i said, i haven't played 'Fly' for many years, but on first listening, remember thinking "Brian sound's like he's singing in the shower". 'Stiff Upper Lip'? yep, it's VERY uninspired. Why does everyone hate St. Anger so much?? I thought it was a great album! Infact one of there best!

And it is truly a Marmite album. For me though it has 3 main issues. A buscuit tin drum kit being hit with wooden spoons. Not one blistering trademark Metallica solo. Shoddy production values(the curse of the bands career).
For me the album was a cathartic excercise for Lars and particularly James, Some Kind Of Monster showed that. It was just something they needed to get off their chests, and probably should never have been made available for public consumption. That said, I would put St Anger on a never ending loop in my coffin before I sat through 1 full play of Lulu.

any Scorpion's albums after "Love drive". And I think you all gonna kill me, as I put in this category Metallica's Kill 'em all. I bought it when it was released, but truly, it was one of my biggest disappointment. Never wanted to listen to Metallica anymore. Please, don't knock me too hard

I could understand it if it was anything they did after the Puppets album(still some great songs on the Justice and Black albums-they just were too many long songs on them for my liking) If this isn't a wind up i think you should go and listen to this album again-its a FUCKING CLASSIC

I must admit ,i bought it played it a couple of times and fucking hated it.Metallica ,to me,is all about their first 3 albums with a few extras from others thrown in,but nothing from St Anger. Saying this i will give it a spin sometime this week and see what i think to it several years on!!

@leedsmark No it's not a joke. But I will follow your advise. Maybe 30 years later it could finally convince me.

Hi Shrak, yeah have another listen.I rate it in my top 5 non-Motorhead albums-for me there's not a bad song on it.Hopefully you'll be surprised and think its a good album.Let me know if you change your mind.
