Man, I always loved the songs on Iron Fist and I always thought it was a strong album but I always thought is that some of the songs were forgettable because the only songs that come to mind are Iron fist, I'm the doctor, heart of stone, sex and outrage, and don't need religion

I would consider the rest to be fillers but just barely being a bit above being sub par

And i also always hated "America" i thought that was one of the worst motorhead songs there is

I felt the same way when I first heard the album as well. I remember the first time I picked up the record store and looked at the cover and thought I hope the lp ain't as lame as the cover. But it is. A few great songs and Philthy's drumming is the best thing about the album but the production is thin and allot of it sounds dull. They should of used Vic Male to produce it. I bet it would of been way better.

When 'Iron Fist' was released some fans didn't like the image. From 'Ace Of Spades' and the western outlaws to, what?, medieval sword-slingers?

The album has everything you want in terms of Motör-lyrics and songwriting. But there is no Vic Maile! The production sounds even cleaner than APD, where Robbo had his big momentum in adding music to the chaos. Eddie Clarke did a fine job, but he did far better in producing TANK than he did with his own comrades.

Third reason: they were hip after 'No Sleep'. When the wrong people love you for the right reasons you never match any expectations. The band maybe should have come up with a brass-section, a collaboration with George Clinton or at least some acoustic blues. Something different, anything. The way it was many went: "Oh, they do that again..."

Instead of reinvention Lemmy did a 7" with Wendy O. (featuring the most distorted female vocals in recording history) and Eddie was off board.

So 'Iron Fist' got labelled in a way as the 'weak' album everyone seemed to be waiting for.

Iron Fist is better than:
On Parole
March or die
Sacrifice
We are MH
Hammered
Motörizer
But Iron Fist is worse than:
Overkill
Ace of Spades
Another perfect day
Orgasmatron
1916
Bastards
Kiss of Death

I haven't listened to it in years. I had an old cassette but I thought the album was very weak with the exception of a few tracks. Maybe I need to listen to it again but from my memory it is my least favourite album except for Kiss of Death.
