Yeah, I used to have a vinyl copy of 'Motorheadbanger special'. It came in a black cover that opened up and had silver lettering on the front and possibly had a white label. As I remember, it was a horrible quality recording of what sounded like an exciting gig. Rather like the Lemmymania boot with 'The Hellcats' on the label. The drums sounded like someone playing on a biscuit tin. Not as bad as the Bolton Technical College 1977 boot, which was barely audible but notable for Lemmy's between song patter. Back in 1982 in Shrewsbury, there was a record shop called 'Charlie's'; which was where I bought all my Motorhead vinyl including boots. I remember working like hell to buy the boots, which were incredibly expensive at £10 each back then, being excited picking them up and then incredibly disappointed at the sound quality. This was when you could get Motorhead/City Kids on Chiswick or Big beat on white, pink or blue vinyl for £1.50 each. It wasn't until Mad max 3 came out in 1983 that we got a decent quality boot - the set in Lyons with Robbo and the wonderful version of Nadine.

In case it's of interest and not already known: the cover of "lemmymania" has fotos from the show recorded for "motörheadbanger special" wink When i got me the Lemmymania-bootleg, i expected recordings from the "Golden Summernight"-festival (as was my first festival) and was slightly disappointed (to say the least).

hlo mate-so are you liking Machine head and Anthrax yet,or is it early days.

I think Machine Head is ok, but too over produced and long guitar solos that get me lost.
1 Anthrax song is ok but the others either make no sense or have some sort of rap/hip hop infusion??? Will give it a listen again but at first it doesn't seem my thing.

Sorry I made a mistake. I didn't mean Machine Head I meant then Megadeath. Just listened to Machine Head and I found kind of good, stable, hard.
Will not waste time listening to Megadeath again. Out of big 4/big 6 or whatever big numbers there are, Machine Head is probably the best.

Kein Problem, Terentek! Yes, I think they had a colouring issue at the pressing plant. It's worth checking out the Porky Prime Cuts etched messages in the run-off grooves of the records used after mastering. They always gave me a giggle when inspecting the vinyl, with different messages on either side. What does your white one say? I still love those versions of Motorhead and City Kids. Especially like the angry Lem roar towards the end... 'City Kids now, you know it won't be long!!!' Check it out, Motorheadbangers everywhere...

Can't remember what it said on the vinyl...
Long time ago and I got rid of most of my vinyl when I switched over to CD,worst mistake ever IMHO.
I still have a few bits and pieces left but no turntable.

Now listening to the same as Drthc:
motör headbanger special (bootleg-LPrip 1981)
