The only reason I mentioned MH influencing Metallica, is because they've said it themselves many times...they are HUGE MH fans, and have the utmost respect for Lem and the boys. Hell, they've played many MH songs, many times with Lem live on stage...they're friends for Christ sake! Lars was once the president of the MH fan club in the US at one point, so saying Metallica may have never existed without MH is a valid comment...if you don't like what I say, then fuck ya, you can skip my posts from now on.

And for the record, if you watch the interviews in the "Special Features" section of the new MH DVD, The World is Ours Volume I, Lemmy himself says that he doesn't consider MH a heavy metal band, it's a RNR band...because RNR and heavy metal are THE SAME FUCKING THING!!!

Metal and rnr are not the same, Beatles and Cannibal corpse are not the same. That's one of the heavy metal propaganda; "Lemmy say this because it easy for him to explain Motorhead music" or "Lemmy said that that all this is the same..", Yes but not in the way you think. (You also didn't read my last few posts when He says that they are not heavy metal!!!) He said it's all the same in the way that all this rnr, metal, punk... were made from rnr 1950's and 60's music and that's correct, so roots of all this music are the same and that's correct. That's what he thinks when he say "it's all the rnr"... BUT later all this genre's were make sound of their own, you can't say that Motorhead and Cannibal corpse are the same, specially not Beatles and Cannibal Corpse for example. I mean it is so obvious. And no, he would not laugh if he read this, he will see that someone is defending his vision of what Motorhead is and that's rnr. And I'm not the only one. And so what Metallica plays Motorhead stuff? Some folk band can play too motorhead stuff, (and say 'if wasn't for motorhead than we will not exist' shit) some easy songs like "one more fucking time" or "love me forever" or whatever... those things are heavy metal propaganda to put Motorhead in metal world and they are not metal. I mean, when Lemmy say on stage "We are Motorhead and we play heavy metal" than I will shut up. Until than I will fight against that to someone put Motorhead in metal genre. That's my duty like a fan. This "fight" have many sense for me, defending the truth. Many people doesn't care what are they playing, for me that's important, because I see them like real art, real serious rnr band. Metal music how I see it is for teenagers, so it is important what Motorhead plays, serious real art, rnr, or teenager music.

It means about people in music industry (which are metal fans or they think that only Johnny B Good is rnr) and heavy metal society, they think everything what is loud is metal, but rnr is loudest. Or not? Heavy metal society wants many rnr bands to put in metal genre. It's not only Motorhead, it's ACDC, Led Zeppelin etc etc... Than they say (it is again propaganda) that metal was not made in 1980 like complete scene because of Sabbath and Priest, I agree they are the start of heavy metal but only two bands you can't call heavy metal SCENE. That's why Lemmy say that Motorhead was way before metal and Punk. Metal started like real scene in 1980. So that's truth. Those other things are again propaganda to make wrong picture. Led Zeppelin are prog rock, early purple too etc... If you want, first album or maybe first two albums of Sabbath are not pure metal too. More prog rock. But they are not important to me. Only Motorhead. So yes, metal people wants many rnr bands to be a metal genre and they are using many wrong explanations to make this wrong picture real. But no one from them care what Lemmy saying about Motorhead, or Angus about ACDC etc etc... That's not important to them, THEY think they own those bands so they "knows" better than Lemmy and Angus what are those bands... How arrogant is that? Or primitive? Or very rude? Lemmy was talking about those people who wants to tell him what he should be or playing "Who the fucking think they are?" he said.. For me Motorhead are heavy metal.When i first started listening to metal it was Motorhead ,Priest,Saxon,Sabbath etc and then you had the thrash come over-Metallica etc.Metal has obviously evolved since the early/mid 80's and now metal includes Chimaira,Machine Head etc which are all heavier sounding.There are loads of Heavy Metal categories but it's all metal to me.There are different types of music-pop,rap,punk,dance,rock n roll and Heavy Metal and,for me,Motorhead fall into the Metal category.I can't see many rock and rollers "jiving" to Motorhead!!
This always reminds me of the film "Bad News" where Spider walks out of the band because Vim says they're "better" than a heavy metal band and then only rejoins when Vim says "ok-we,re heavy fucking metal all right" haha-watch it if you haven't already.

After all that's been said, I just have to fall back on what Lard said...I don't really give a shit what anyone calls it, as long as I like it that's all that really matters.

The way I see it, categories are only important if you've never heard a bands stuff and you want to know what kind of music they play. After you've heard them, you either like them, or you don't. What difference does it make what everyone else calls them?

Just because a band is called heavy metal doesn't mean that everyone that likes music from that genre is going to like them just because that's the genre they "fit" in.

My dad (RIP) loved the same old RNR Lemmy does...Little Richard, the Beatles, etc. When I slap pretty much ANY MH stuff on while he's there, he would cringe. To him that's not RNR, so your argument doesn't really hold water. MH is RNR to me, but they're also heavy metal to me, and they're punk to me, they're also blues to me, so fucking what?

I'm sick of fighting over something so stupid...if you like a band listen to them, if not then don't. It's really very simple.
