Well, I have no idea how many people here in the forum are making music themselves. So lets open a thread for "us" grin

The idea is to talk about Motörhead songs from a musicians point of view, equipment and maybe tabs.

I'm playing bass (Rickenbacker, of course) and also started guitar a couple of months ago. I'm certainly not good, but I don't have to make money with it and it's so much fun!

Okay, let's see if this dies right at the beginning sleep - maybe it's the start of a long running thread.....

After listening for over 30 years, searching and waiting for alternatives, I understood that there will be no other band like Motörhead. Never.

I've been playing guitar for a long time and I have just recently been learning Motorhead songs... Phil Cambell writes killer awesome metal riffs!!!

I love how he tunes his low E sting to a C# and rest to D# for alot of songs!

The songs I've been learning are:
The Terminal Show (that intro is wicked)
Killers
In the Name of Tradegy
Down on Me
In the Black
Devil I Know
Living in the Past
Under the Gun
Be My Baby
Time is Right

I wish Motorhead would sell a Music Songbook with TAB cause they have so many great rockin songs!!!

cool, at least one smile What guitar do you play?

I currently have 35 or so Motörhead songs, all in Guitar Pro format. Unfortunately some are missing and obviously were never tabbed by anyone (at least I never found them in the web).

My currently "most wanted" is I Don't Believe Word...

I'm a bass-player too... I like playing Motorhead songs, but can't find someone else who could play guitar/drums.

Yeah I play bass too...I can play about 90 % of all of Motorhead's songs

I play fender jazz basses but with the right amps and distortion I get a great tone

I usually just tab out songs by ear because most songs on tab websites are wrong or missing the right number of notes

the tunings i use for playing motorhead stuff on guitar are Eb, Db (Eb with the thickest e tuned to match the D, as most know) and standard E for Killed By Death and whatever other songs they recorded in standard.

I play a Gibson Flying V
I used to have a tube Marshall amp with a modified preamp built it that sounded thick and Heavy.

I've seen some of those Guitar Pro Motorhead guitar tabs files but I haven't opened any yet cause I would have to buy some Guitar Pro software. .. Maybe someday I will

this is cool......the first songs I learned to play were Motorhead tracks from watching Live In Toronto. I used to be able to play all of NSTH but then my guitar was put in the attic for 10yrs or so. I have started playing again in the last year and still love to rip out "the hammer", "Love me like a reptile" and "Over The Top". I love Phils playing but I can't play much of his stuff.....he is tooooo good smile
I just wish I could do the riff to "sword of glory" and the solo to "keys to the kingdom" then I could die happy

Phil does have some very difficult riffs. I really love his guitar work on Overnight Sensation and Snake Bite Love

Not a musician myself, this DVD may be of interest to those who are starting out though...

I've made this thread a sticky b.t.w wink
