Does anyone know which audio mix was used for this set? I assume it's probably identical to the mixes used on the previously released deluxe editions?

1. Overkill
2. Bomber
3. Ace of Spades
4. No Sleep Till Hammersmith
5. Iron Fist
6. Another Perfect Day

I'm generally not a huge fan of remixed albums. It wouldn't be so bad if they included the original mixes as well.

Although I haven't heard any of them, from what I was told the older ZZ-Top albums were remixed to sound more commercial and everybody hated them. They are probably considered the worst remixes ever. Most of the ZZ Top stuff was eventually released in their original mixes on CD but there are still 1 or 2 albums where only the remixed version is available.

The Maiden ones aren't great either, and as for the Megadeth ones, Dave basically rerecorded huge swathes and blamed it on not being able to locate the masters. They were/are shit.

The king of dire 'remastering' has to be Ozzy though. Him and his evil missus rerecorded Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley out of existence on 2 albums.

Really Lardy? I've not heard those OZ remasters (sounds like I don't want to either).

I hate it when they fuck about with old albums like that, it messes with my head. Especially if I know the albums really well. It can really spoil your listening when parts are missing or changed.

If your gonna do stuff like that, I.m.o you may as well re-record the whole bloody album from scratch and be honest about it. Sometimes that can work. Girlschool's 'Hit & Run re-visited' was pretty good I thought and felt fresh.

Remastered versions of "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman", rerecorded by Trujillo and Mike Bordin.
I bought both, when I realised that it was too late... like 5 years late cry

Has anyone listened to the new Motorhead box set? Just wondering about the audio quality.

Me and Motorsmell rocked out with our cocks out to it before we were removed from the carpark for public indecency...

... I kid, but it sounded pretty sweet

So, no one has listened to this set and can comment on the audio quality as compared to previously released versions. I have the originals on vinyl, and I also have the Castle remasters. I wanted to buy this set as a gift for someone, but only if it sounds good. If it's brickwalled and the mix/mastering sounds like shit, I don't want to waste my money.

Sorry mate, not got that set.

Yup Toast. Probably the most infamous of all Ms Osbourne's vile acts against music.

Kerslake and Daisley were denied writing credits on Blizzard of Oz and Diary of a Madman, so they sued Ozzy. In retaliation, the 2 albums were 'remastered' in 2002, a process that included rerecording the drum and bass parts with Ozzy's then band members, Rob Trujillo and mike Bordin. Sharon was quite open about it, stating that the 2 former band members behaviour had caused Ozzy to want them removed from the albums. US courts turned down the case and some years later Ozzy released the 30th ann editions with the original mix reinstated. If you don't want the 30th ann versions, buy these ones as they were released before Kerslake and Daisley were removed.

Sorry for wandering off topic again guys (will ban self later).

Thanks for that interesting info Lardy. smile I lost touch/interest with the land of Oz when he started doing that reality show crap in the 90's, so this is news to me.

Fortunately I still have the old vinyls and bought CD versions of both albums back in the mid 80's so have them as they were 'meant to be' but thanks anyway.

Can't believe they did that! That Sharon's a witch (despite saving Ozzy's career/life/dry cleaning bill or whatever)
