I get parcels left outside my front door with a card shoved through the letterbox claiming them to have been left in a "secure porch". It's just open there, no porch atall, secure or otherwise. These Olympics could be better managed. Organizers are causing chaos on streets of London and it makes it hell for local drivers and public transport.
I can't get to work and If I wanted to watch anything live it's also very difficult as it's costly and no parking available. If I could I'd go on holidays.

Don't envy you in London at the minute mate. we're there on the 1st August, as I'm being dragged to one of the BBC proms by the wife, and I'm not looking forward to getting in and out. Then we're taking the kids to see some Olympic basketball on the 6th which will be a pain having to drag a 12 and 8 yr old round.

Proms and Olympic Basketball is a nice thing mate, specially Proms if you enjoy classical. As you said, shame the whole transport system and money-making streets spoil part of the fun.

I really wanted to watch olympic riding but when I added all costs including eating and parking I decided watching at home on TV. At least I have the HD box lol.

Well the prom thing is quite cheap apparently, and the Olympics is just what we could get in budget. we wanted to take the kids as it's a one off thing that they will probably never see in their life times again.

Just been on the V festival site and Olly Murs gets
a higher billing than The Stranglers.

I think if bands do official compilation albums then the dedicated fans should vote for what songs are on there, or at least have half of them chosen by the band and the rest by fans. There are so many compilation albums that overlook stuff like Motorhead's or Saxon's later albums that have great songs on, and they're just as relevant as their early 'Greatest' hits that most other labels fixate on.
It's high time that the fans were given the chance to allow new listeners to hear a band the way they should be heard, warts and all, not just stuck in one era because everyone probably knows the songs already.

@MotorLaw, congrats, mate, hope all goes well and that you have many happy times to look forward to.

Maybe "best of's" should be done as 2-disc-sets – one disc with the fans choices and one with the bands/artists choices? Guess there'd be some surprises waiting...

I have some of those patches still! Superb. No idea who i saw Exciter opening for in the 80s but they were blood brill. Saw Twisted sister at Hammersmith when Lem came on with them, 1984 was a fantastic year for gigs thinking about it!

I'm not stuck in the 80's or something but thinking about that time it always brings back great memories.
Listen to hard/heavy/metal music for over 30 years now (incl. Motörhead) and have seen a lot of bands in the 80's.
Still going to concerts (if I have the chance) and still enjoy it a lot.

Cheers MHB2320, no, I'm not stuck in the 80's, but to be honest I loved the Motorhead gigs in the late 70's even better than the 80's.
These days, I love them EVEN MORE... I must be an embarrassment to my wife and daughter at the gigs, but they know how important Motorhead are to me.

Mate, great jacket! Looking at that makes me feel 16 years old again.

I had the patched denim jacket as well as a studded & patched army coat back in the 80's, both with the mighty Snaggletooth as the centre piece. Sadly, they've disappeared in the mists of time.....

Being so far away, the metal scene down here in the 80's was almost underground. No internet back then, everything was word of mouth, it was great to be a part of it. I miss those days.

Never seen Motörhead in the late 70's.
My first Motörhead concert was in 1987 (Orgasmatron tour with Onslaught as support act) in Den Bosch.

When I met my wife I was wearing a Motörhead shirt and now 30 years later I'm still wearing (only) Motörhead shirts
My kids grew up with Motörhead and metal music but they have their own music now, and thats fine with me, no problem with that.

No (physical) problems so far, even my hearing is still OK (it's been checked a few months ago)
So I think I can survive another 25 years of Motörhead and loud music

Its almost the only thing, together with my LP's, that survived the 80's.
Had lots of band (tour) shirts but not anymore.

Oh .... and somewhere I must have a bag full of audio cassettes (about 300).
On saturdays I went with some friends to "the big city" and each of us bought an album and then we taped it for each other.

Sometimes we took our cassette recorder to a gig and taped the whole concert.
Somewhere on the internet is now a tape (mp3) for downloading from the Holy Terror gig, which we recorded back in 1987 in Groningen, hahaha.
Even some pictures I took of them are on that site .... awesome !!!

I first saw Motorhead in Bradford (UK) in 1978, then 1978 on the Bomber tour. I could not believe what this new fantastic sound was.
I followed them everywhere after that.
My (new) wife hated heavy metal, and always loved disco and motown stuff... but then I got her to a Motorhead gig finally in 2008, and she LOVED it.
She has been to about 10 since. I hear her sometimes singing 'We are Motorhead', her favourite track.

I took my daughter to a Motorhead gig, she was 14 an liked White Stripes and other stuff, and she would tolerate Motorhead for my sake.
I was a little worried for her safety at 14, but when I lost sight of her and panicked, I then saw her in the middle of the mosh-pit going berserk. She saw no danger, and really loved the gig, (more than the band I think)

I had to go to see White Stripes as a trade-off, and I thought they were terrible, but tried not to complain TOO much.

I think my wife has seen Motörhead now 5 or 6 times and she also like it, but not as much as I do, haha.
In june she going (again) with me to see Motörhead at FortaRock 2013.

I'm 100% sure my daughter NEVER goes with me to Motörhead or a hard/heavy concert.
She's a fanatic streetdancer and she's doing well, so now and then I have to go with her to see her dancing (contest).
Then I hear for almost 4 or 5 hours only Hip Hop, Streetdance or other dance music .... duh, hahaha, but I'm proud of her (of course )

Maybe, maybe someday my son (16) goes with me to a concert cause sometimes I hear Motörhead or Metallica music coming out of his bedroom.
Then I open his door and gives him two thumbs up, hahaha .... so who knows ???

My daughter loves the World is Yours (esp get back in line)but fave song is Bomber, as is mine. She's nearly 6. I get the joys of seeing the likes of the Saturdays and Jessie J with her too, but frankly a love of music is to be encouraged, she gets the buzz from a cheering crowd the way I used to. My wife keeps saying she'll come to see Motorhead but nver has yet, hoping to drag her (kicking n screaming probably LOL) to Download in June, be nice if there was a UK warm-up for that, wouldn't it?
