haha Mark! smile
What we forgot to comment is your little lad having a passion for rock music which is very positive specially in this today's society lost in cheap pop, chip-on-shoulder-ghetto music, and reality TV; good on you pal.

I had no idea that there were that many people in SlipKnot. I heard someone in the band died a few months ago but I guess he wasn't too important because I didn't hear anything else about it after.

bloody hell. I seem to remember seeing those comments supposedly written by Lem and I was bit surprised to be honest. I've seen Slipknot a couple of times now with my lad and I have to say they are one of the most entertaining bands I have ever seen. Shame their Bass player died, they were maybe at their peak in 2009 at Download.

slipkshi* ? I hate this kind of " fashion" band... sounds fake. That endless noise irritates me a lot..
I m into death, black, thrash ... but not this kind of music...

The Rock&Roll/Metal issue with Motorhead, Lem says it's rocknroll and here's why: Brazil, Black LJ, Tragedy, Angel City, Parole, Stay Clean, Tear Ya Down and I could point many more songs that make perfect evidences for motorhead to be a RNR band. Now, the surprising thing, get any free audio software at Download.com and slow down the fast (often called metal) songs of Motorhead such as Red Raw, Burner, We Are Motorhead, Locomotive, Snaggletooth, Ridin Driver. And also slow down the songs of the metal bands. It sounds nothing like it! Motorhead has rhythm, it's danceable. The metal bands songs slowed down are more like a symphony, with a lot of notes but no rhythm, no rock n roll! So that makes motorhead not a classic RNR band like berry or checker or richard neither trendy like beatles or searches but hard and fast RNR!
Anyway, november not far...

That's right! And one more thing, I think this dude doesnt understand what rnr is. It is not rnr only "Johnny be good" rhythm. Rnr sounds differently in 50s, different in 60s, different in 70s and so on... That's evolution. Song "I know how to die" for example is rnr from 2010 and not from 1955. That's how rnr sounds in 2010. Different periods in rnr genre are prog rock, hard rock, rock, etc... And way of thinkin in rnr is different than metal, talks about life and reality and against any primitive people and not singin about devils and horror movies thing... or bible. Metal bands will never play songs like Going to Brazil and hundreds more.. Like Lemmy said: "Most of the songs what we have is just something similar like Little Richard, Cochran etc... only 100 miles on hour." Rnr was not only from 1955 til 1965. It is still today.

I always felt that was what Lemmy was trying to say, be you a rock n roll fan, a punk fan or a metal fan Motorhead were all things to all men. It's all under the rock n roll umbrella. For every Going to Brazil there's always a Red Raw remember. Listen to some of the bands borderline thrash stuff and tell me that doesn't sound like metal. I refer y'all to my post of a few months back. Classify music 2 ways. Stuff you like and stuff you don't.

And Mark, I'll see you there for Anthrax. Can not wait.

There are much much more songs like Brazil or Angel city than Red Raw. If you have 80% songs like rnr and 15 or 20% like Red Raw, what kind of band is this? Rnr or metal? I say rnr. And like I said in post before rnr way of thinkin it's different than metal way of thinkin. Example: Song Angel city vs any of Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm death, most of Iron Maiden, Metallica etc...

As Lemmy says "why over analyse these things"!

Wrong! If you didn't know, Rockin Vickers got in 1966 double pedal. One band Jazz/etno from Macedonia got doublle pedal and so on... Double pedal is not automaticlly metal. And if Lemmy sai iin some song word "Devil" is not automatic metal. Evis had song "Devil in disguise".

Leather and long hair, those two things were before metal. Leather even in 50s started. Motorhead doesn't look like metal, metal looks like Motorhead.

hey smell i have to agree.when they first came out my first impression was there was about 20 of the fuckers on stage in stupid masks, and that impression has lasted and perhaps tainted me.When my lad had them on the other day(and i didnt know who they were)the 2 songs i heard sounded really good, but as soon as i knew who they were i was thinking what a load of shit,so maybe its just some mental block i have with them!!
As for all marketing-yeah course it is and look where its got them-they are fucking massive. They headlined sonisphere last year,my lad wanted to see them but because i fucking hate(d) them we didnt bother-something i do regret now,if only just toprove myself right!!
music changes,i'm sure when motorhead first came along the sabbath/purple/zep brigade thought noisy talentless fuckers-how wrong they were.
Going back(again)to the Motorhead/rock n roll debate-like me and lard discussed at download, some people think they're rock n roll, some punks think they're punk while metalheads know they're metal(haha)not just in the music but in their leathers ,long hair etc but we forgive Lemmy for his rock n roll introduction hahahahaah

TO post above. Long hair and leather were long before metal. Leather thing started in 50s. Leather and long hair doesn't mean automaticlly metal. Motorhead doesn't look like metal, metal looks like Motorhead.

And let's not forget. Motorhead started from Hawkwind and Pink Fairies style and not metal. First album On parole, half on this are songs from Hawkwind and Fairies, on second album "Motorhead" too. And on next three semi-official live albums before Overkill. On Overkill they made their own sound but mentally they never quit this look on music from begin of Motorhead, specially Lemmy. To him Motorhead is just another level of rnr, stronger, more progressive than Beatles, Cochran etc... mentally it is not different, it's not metal. And they are not traitors to rnr if they played Kingdom of the worm or Red Raw. Who wants to play same riff all the time? But they have a blues songs too: You better run, Treat me nice, Hoochie coochie man, Whorehouse blues... are they now a blues band? No. That's why they are not metal band either if they have some metal songs.
