As Lemmy says "why over analyse these things"!

Wrong! If you didn't know, Rockin Vickers got in 1966 double pedal. One band Jazz/etno from Macedonia got doublle pedal and so on... Double pedal is not automaticlly metal. And if Lemmy sai iin some song word "Devil" is not automatic metal. Evis had song "Devil in disguise".

Really dont get where your coming from Blackadder, all I said was I read an article, it wasn't a direct observation from me! Do the drummers in the bands you mentioned play at Phil Taylors speed?

Yes I know what you mean Claw, I know you read article, it was my response on this article. Yes they play like Phil, I say faster than Phil. Few very big bands from Yugoslavia (Former Yugoslavia) played very fast. Like band Disciplina kičme, only bass and drums, prog-psych-underground style (year 1982), very big art. Many collectors, vinyl collectors who sells Lp's in Utrecht (Holland), Milan (Italy) etc... they say that with British and American rnr, prog rock, hard etc... Yugoslav scene is with them too, they talk about quality. Problem is only that Yugoslav scene have few extreme good artists but British and American have much more bands (Im talking about numbers), well they are big countries. But this is some other theme...

Maybe this is an age thing. Back when I was a kid, everything was metal and that was it. I got a poster on my wall which is a copy of the 1st ever Kerrang cover from June 1980. It says "SOUNDS - HEAVY METAL SPECIAL", Sounds being the mag Kerrang spawned from. The bands listed in this "Heavy Metal Special" include AC/DC, Motorhead, Girlschool, UFO, Saxon, KISS, Trust, Schenker, Pat Benatar, ZZ Top, Styx, Ted Nugent, Rose Tattoo. How many of those acts are what we call Heavy Metal today? Back in the early 80's, when the likes of me and Leedsmark were cutting our teeth on rock music, everything was called Heavy Metal. It was a one size fits all label for any band/artist with long hair and loud guitars. 30 years on and we got so many subdivisions that a band you listen to has been pigeon holed in a different sub-genre before the album has stopped spinning on your turntable. Who actually gives a shit if Motorhead are called punk or rock n roll or heavy metal? They encompass elements and draw fans from all 3, so who gives a fuck if you wanna say rnr, he wants to say punk and I wanna say metal? Not me, that's for sure. Now stay calm and play some Motorhead fuckers!!!! laugh

I understand what you said and those things will always be because there will be always some little fucker of some magazine who heard one album of Motorhead and he have his opinion what Motorhead is. Why oh please tell me why is so hard to believe Lemmy who is on scene from 1965? It is better to believe those fuckers who said that Motorhead is metal? They don't know shit about Motorhead or before bands pre Motorhead like: Rockin Vickers, Sam Gopal, Hawkwind or Pink Fairies. Those fuckers are heavy metal fans anyway. That's why they are talking like this. When I listen The Watcher, Lost Johnny, On parole or hundreds more til this date I can't believe that someone can call this metal. It is the same like someone say Jimi Hendrix is punk. How stupid is that? It is very popular thing that metal fans and metal scene wants to put some rnr or rock bands to metal genre. You are the proof with your post!!! Everything in your time was "Metal". But it is not! Not Motorhead.

I know your feelings Blackadder, Kerrang mag is utter crap but all we can do is conform.
Motorhead is only invited to play at metal fests and also bloody 'Ska' and 'Regga' bands get signed to play at punk festivals.
And theeeen... we get that dammit R&R Hall of Fame and theeeeeeeeeeeen the Grammy... I mean, it's all going tits up!

That it was. Back then ask me what music I like and I'd say heavy metal, and that conjured images of Maiden, Motorhead, AC/DC, Def Leppard, ZZ Top, bon Jovi even. Now ask me and if i say heavy metal people think I mean a bunch of bearded, black clad Scandanavian screamers (not that I necessarily oblect to that kind of music), so I have to say I like heavy metal, hard rock, rock n roll, thrash, etc..., etc... Too bloody complicated.
