True, I have heard of Kiss earning a trophy at some heavy metal awards and Bon Jovi, Argent and even Jethro Tull being called heavy metal a few times...

Anyway roll on november.I've got my banner ready for half way through the set when Lemmy says"right this is the rock'n'roll number-you like rock'n'roll don't you"
It says "What about the 10 songs you've just played-i thought they were rock'n'roll"

And before i get any abuse it's just a JOKE-chill out.Like i said everyone has their own opinions, and like Lard said I'm off to listen to Motorhead

The Bad News Tour (1983):
Den Dennis: 'I'm leaving the band if you say we're not heavy metal!'
Vim Fuego aka Alan Metcalfe: 'Heavy metal, Heavy metal Heavy metal Heavy Bloody metal, alright?!'

http://www.anus.com/metal/about/philosophy/ (I'm not joking, the website really is called anus.com. Oh gawd. Anyway, read the essay on heavy metal and various connected genres. It's interesting, although controversial in places.

And the final word from Lem...

"People call us heavy metal because we have long hair," Lemmy scoffs. "If we had short hair, they would've called us punk. They just look at the surface, the clothes; they didn't want to look at what we really do. We're a rock band. I am rock 'n' roll; I've seen the whole thing. I remember Elvis's first record. Heavy metal is people who shriek and plod around. I think we have more in common with the Band — When we first started we were playing "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl", and all these Yardbirds-style songs. I wanted to be the MC5. We bend, like dance music. Except it's too fast to dance to." He may have a point there — Lemmy insists Motörhead is a democracy, but since he's the ubiquitous spokesperson by choice or not, they certainly seem like a bassplayer-led combo, and they sound like one too. Fast Eddie Clarke tended primarily to use his guitar as rhythm — to bolster basslines. Old Motörhead always had a beat that swings.'

Hahaha... Good observation Leedsmark. Lemmy in this statement thought on first level of Rock n roll, like in 50s. Later periods of rock n roll when rock n roll genre start growing were: Rock (short from rnr), hard rock (Stronger rnr than before) etc... It's all rnr genre only every level have name subname in complete rnr genre so you can know difference on every period. Than all this periods lives today too. Someone likes sound of 50s, someone 60s, someone 70s etc...

Because when you have a rnr band and Lemmy say "Ready for some rnr?!.." and he wants to play Going to Brazil, he obviously doesn't mean on genre, he means on one period of rnr genre and in this case that's first period from 50s. If you heard how Going to Brazil sounds than everything is clear.
