I only ask this because when I met him the other day during the VIP Meet & Greet in Detroit he wasn't smoking during the autograph session, or when we went back for the photo session. Also he wasn't smoking when he came out on stage for the beginning of their set, or during his return from break during Mikkey's drum solo (as I have seen every other time that I have seen Motorhead play). And the whole time he was chewing on gum or something, I was standing on his side of the stage in the photographers section so I had a very good look.

I just found it very odd that I didn't see him smoking one cigarette during all of that time.

Well I heard that he's now taking more care of himself and health so yeah it is possible. Good for him.

What were the no smoking rules at the venue? Just cause the Rainbow bends it's rules for Lemmy, we can't assume other places will.

I think is this Lard... In Brazil especially Sao Paulo state, isn´t allowed to smoke indoor areas... and Lemmy once by mistake showed up with a cigarette and someone just told him about...

Lemmy won't quit,same as he won't quit anything else he does.

I really hope it's not for health reasons. Lemmy is very set in his ways. He still drinks alot which you're not supposed to do with diabetes 2. I also got diabetes 2 and the pills I take look the same as Lemmy's. I have kept it pretty much under control though and eat sweets regularly so perhaps Lemmy has his diabetes under control. Diabetes 2, for those who don't know is when you aren't born diabetic but end up getting it as an adult, usually due to lifestyle (eating crappy road food would do it).

He didn't smoke in Toronto last year because of similar laws regarding smoking inside but most of the road crew were smoking as they were tearing the stage down. I recognized many of the crew from videos and documentaries over the years.

Well read a thing on mayhem fest in terrorizer today and Lemm has indeed been smoke free for 8 weeks!Well good luck to him and i really hope it was a choice without doctors orders....another one bites the dust....

Well guys... I have a very close girl friend who met Lemmy at Berlin gig and I did see pictures of her on stage, and she just told me that Lemmy quit already almost three months.
She just congratulated him for his deep inner strength ... so seems it is his option.

Well lately, we all heard that Lemmy exercises, then lost some weight then quit smoking. We always knew he was a clever and generous man and know he teaches a lesson in self-preservation and self-esteem and somehow he also makes us feel better as he's keeping himself healthier and in better shape for touring.
I'm very happy for Lem; I'll stop being lazy and make more of my gym membership.

Who knows mabey with this new vitality and vigour we may get some more bastards tunes in November....on your feet or on your knees would make me the happiest man in the world!...but I agree well done to lem for keeping in shape to give us more of the best rock n roll on the planet...

As a 100% "smoke hater" and after having lost a close relative due to lung cancer a couple of weeks ago, I just want to congratulate Lemmy, whatever his reasons may be.

Last time I saw them I had the feeling he had not much breath left at the end of a lot of sentences singing. He sounded not like he smoked/drank for years, but also like someone was squeezing his throat.

I stopped myself some 8 years ago after years of heavy smoking and have a lot more breath now. I lost my father earlier this year because his lungcancer spread towards his brains. (This is not a nice way to die I can tell you.) I think you can imagine what I think about smoking...... ;-)
