Ok. The band played great as always. I loved One to sing the Blues, Overkill, Going to Brazil and Bomber.
But, ....and I may catch some shit for this....but I felt like the band shouldve played more of their faster, louder stuff considering it was a thrash metal festival.
Yes, I understand the band can do whatever they want and they have their reasons.
But the crowd was going insane for Slayer and the thrash band that was on right before MH....but when Motorhead came on, nearly everyone just stood there gazing onto the stage and there was cheering but not the roards I heard for Slayer and the other thrash bands there.
I mean it doesnt really make sense to yell at 28,000 thrash fans, "Let's see how loud you motherf'ers can get!!"....only to go into Damage Case or The Chase right after that. If they would've done that and then tore into One to Sing the Blues, that would've gotten people more amped, don't you think?

I LOVE Bomber but maybe On your Feet as an opener followed by Burner(just examples) may have gotten the crowd going more.
ON the other hand....
Maybe it was because there were so many younger Slipknot fans there who really didn't know much about MH..what do you guys think??

Maybe you right about Slipknot fans. Those situations want be the first time. Or maybe you had this situation: Rnr band - metal trash audience, what's wrong here? smile. Trash reacted good on trash like Slayer but not on Motorhead because the are rnr. Different mentality. Different energy...

I think that because Motorhead play so many festivals every year, people are taking them for granted.

MH is a rock'n'roll band and I think, there's no reason to become a Thrash Metal Band only because they play on some festival.

Agree, I bet they only play for the sake of not disappointing. Next thing they will be invited to play on 'This Morning' or at the 'Corrie' pub lol

This was my 4th time seeing them and it was great hearing Damage Case and The One to Sing the Blues for the first time. I do say though the seriously need to drop Going to Brazil and Over the top. I think part of the reason people can be so dull at a MH is we are contiuning to get the some songs each show. I looked at the setlists from all 4 shows i've been too since 2008 and theres not a whole lot of difference at all. This was pretty much the same setlist from the show they did here in Feb with Megadeath. I skipped that one because I knew the rumor of them doing Mayhem.

To really get the best Motorhead experience, you have to see them headlining. They usually throw in some some surprise songs.

Those sites that list the setlists are often wrong (if that is where you seen the setlist). The setlist posted for the show I was at last year was just a copy of the setlists listed from other shows during that tour. They missed many songs that they played and even included a few songs they didn't play. At the time, I hadn't seen them live in 29 years so they could have played anything and I would have been happy.

They often have to play certain songs to keep the casual fans happy. For example if they omitted the Ace of Spades, the casual fans would be unhappy. They did actually omit that song when I saw them for the Iron Fist tour because Lemmy was having problems with his arm. Because it was still a pretty new song at the time, it was a surprise that they didn't play it - but that whole concert was a very strange experience Toronto '82.

Its the on going debate but i agree that a mass overhaul of the set list5 would be great....Over the top, Metropolis,Killed by death,Brazil all could do with a rest.... especially as the set shrinks every year....There all great songs and ill be paying to see them even if they play AOS and then leave but it would be awesome if at Wolverhampton this year i cant guess the next song...
