Hey Rock'n'rollers
Let me introduce myself
I'm 34 years old and i'm from Belgium(Antwerp)
(sorry if my spelling isn't always ok)
Like all the people on this forum,i like rock'n'roll.
And if you say rock'n'roll ,you say Motorhead.
I don't know if this is the right place to tell, but i got a problem.
Like Lemmy & co ,i also got principals.
Because i like the bands music, and i got respect for their artistic creations(their songs and albums)i legaly buy the albums.
I like to enjoy the"anything louder than anyone else"music playing trough my stereo set a lot.
And not only for the great songs they put on the albums,no,...
The overall production (mixing,...)that takes care for the additional sound on the album is always great.
What I wonna say is this:There is plenty of dynamic sound in their albums, and therefore are they really enjoyable for my ears to listen at.
So far Motorhead(they sound the way it should be,RESPECT)
Now my problem(and not only mine i think)
How does it come that more and more bands sound so loud on an album, that the album isn't listenable anymore.
The dynamic is totaly gone, the sound realy pushes the speakers, and my ears went nuts listenning at the overthetopsound.
The medium cd is a really beautiffull and qualitative medium, that can give the band the possibility to create perfect dynamic songs on this medium.(Like Motorhead sounds)
Lets take the worst example:Metallica's"Death Magnetic"
I don't wonna discuss if the tracks on the album are good or bad(I think there back on track) that's not my point.
My point is the quality of production.
This album's sound is a real dissaster.
As fairly buyer i expect good dynamic sound quality .
The pitty is that it's becoming a trend in music world ,a so called "loudness war".
I don't know if rock and metal fans care about this subject, but their better do.
Many bands are overdriving the additional sound on an album,so the album has no dynamic annymore;and is therefore not enjoyable to listen at(read pain in the ears after a while)
As said,Motorhead albums are great to listen to,and do not following the "loudness war"and that's a good thing for us fans, that are bying their albums.
My point:there must come an ending to this"loudness war".
I wan't to enjoy my albums in good soundquality.
And yes ,I like to play'em loud, but loud in quality.
I allreade signed the online petition to ask Metallica for a re-release of their album.
But we(fans, bands, labels, producers) can do more about this problem.
A few people of the musicindustrie have become a little initiatif.
They have the idea for "labeling" cdees;so that the buyers of an album can see that they are bying a good recorded cd.
The label is called"Turn me up"
So if you wan't back the dynamic in your music, pleasse support this.
Because the loudness war is killing music.
It would be great if Motorhead join forces with this excellent idea.
THANKX FOR YOUR ATTENTION & PLEASSE JOIN FORCES
GREETZ
