I'm going. I plan to catch a lunchtime train and be in Kings Cross about 2 ish. So how ever the long the tube takes to get to Brixton. As for where I'm easy. Although it would be nice if the pub played decent music and served real ale. Stumbling distance of the venue might be another consideration.

I'll be there. Travelling up from west Wales in the morning, not sure where I'm staying yet.

It's also my birthday that day, can't think of a much better way to spend it. grin

I'm with you there for a pub with good ale, descent food and our level of music.
But in an area which most boozers are quite commercial, we might lack a bit.

Mostly from touts on the day, they always have a spare one and sometimes even a bit cheaper.

@2 minutes walk it certainly satisfies the stumbling distance part of my requirements. The beer is good, even if it's a plastic chain, so that's tick number 2. Don't imagine we'll get any decent music, but hey 2 out of 3 ain't bad

Mr O'Matic, its ideal half way between tube station and venue, can't miss it, turn right out of station and it's on the right hand side of the road in general direction of the venue. It's not as plastic as you might think, and when i was there 2 years ago for a Motorhead gig it was rammed full of Motorhead fans.
Just bought my Plymouth > Southend rail tickets as i shall be staying with my old mate in Southend for a "boys weekend"

Be happy to collect mate. Pub sounds good, I forgot a pub full of MHBangers would liven any establishment. Can't wait now. It's been a long time since I saw Motorhead in London.

Just got in from Brixton. A great show, even though it was a bit on the short side. (about 70 mins).
Played the same set as the last few shows. The place was packed. Anthrax put on a good show, been over 25 years since I saw them last.

Roll on next November. :-)

Sadly this was the worst Motorhead show I saw (Ive seen about 8 so far) - they just didnt look like they wanted to be there, no energy, no chat, they didnt play bomber, they played barely an hour and a half.... and the sound was really poor sound quality.

very disappointed!

I thought this was the best I'd seen the band for a few years. It fucking rocked where I was stood. Each to their own I guess. As for Bomber, it wasn't on this years setlist so we didn't get it. We got it last year and that was great, but this year we got Rock It and You Better Run, which were barn storming. Me and my mates had a top quality evening.

Cant understand why anyone might be saying this was a good show.

Its sad but to be honest, after the first couple of songs it became a fuckin boring concert also it was way to loud and the overstated light inferno, especially at "Overkill" wasnt tolerable anymore (maybe this was only because I was upstairs and direct in line with the speakers and the lights).
Also the setlist was a bit poor. I missed so much really good songs. One Cover and a couple of slow ones - thats not what I expect of a Mohead Show!! Maybe they could do this if they play 2 hours.
I guess Lemmy wasnt able to play the fast songs or play a longer set.

Lemmy even sucked at the "Ace of Spades" Intro and his voice wasnt the best so far. Apropos has he now beside a fan his own air condition on stage????

Whatever in my oppinion even gods may have a bad day so I hope that the Band and especially Lemmy are in better shape next time and are able to go on with touring and stuff.

But one things here left to say - there was one big exciting energy bomb this evening: Amazing Anthrax

They were totally awesome and definetely the winner of the evening!

Well I was there Saturday, and my friends and I had a great time. I found it loud but clear, I thought the pace had picked up a bit from Monday in Cambridge and I thought Lemmy sounded better and had more energy than in recent tours. The set was shorter but when you have to rush for trains it just meant we could safely see the end. I often wish concerts started and finished earlier! Has anyone ever missed a last train, and what did you end up doing if you did?
A shame some people didn't enjoy it, especially if they had travelled far. That was my 18th Motorhead gig, and I've never seen a bad one, just some where the energy seems to be lacking. But Saturday wasn't one of them!

Hour and a half ?!!! that`s normal for any band.
Go and do that yourself when you`re 66(almoust 67) years old.
Usually people are retired or dead at that age.
Little perspective, man!!!

Back in 1984 they played every show about 70 mins...
Leonard Cohen plays for nearly 4 hours and he´s 78 years old...

Regarding the setlist we see proof that all the fans REALLY like it when f.e. ROCK IT or YOU BETTER RUN is in the set. That is, songs that haven´t or very seldoms been played. And with the back catalouge they have, why not put in MORE songs they haven´t played? This year we got DOCTOR ROCK back, a song they´ve played too many times. Last year, JUST COS YOU GOT THE POWER, another song we´re sick to death with. And I KNOW HOW TO DIE this year again! (Third year in a row) they MUST have others songs to fill the setlist with! And of course we´ve all hears STAY CLEAN, METROPOLIS, OVER THE TOP, BRAZIL, KILLED etc year after year after year...! I just think it´s a shame they don´t deliver some other goodies, maybe they´re getting bored and just want to get the show over with so they can go back to the bus and read their books on their ipads or whatever...

Not all songs are easy to play live. Lemmy had an hand injury last year because of playing songs that demand too much. And I think most people are happy with the current setlist. I mean, they can't please everyone 100%. Having Rock It back was a great present to me.

As Lemmy said in Manchester last year: "It doesn´t matter what the paper say it is. There´s only two kinds of music: Music you like. And music you don´t like"

As far as I can recall Lemola cut his finger, not because some songs were too hard to play.

Also; "Having Rock Itback was a great present to me" Well, there you see... We want the odd stuff, not all the classics tour after tour...

In Lemmy's biography he goes out of his way to say that the band would drop Ace of Spades and others, but they would be lynched by fans if they dropped the classics.
In my opinion, it doesn't matter WHAT they play, just as long as they continue playing.
Anyone who truly loves Motorhead would never criticise any setlist.
Just be grateful that this phenomenon is STILL PLAYING at all!

The setlist is a joke. I didn't even bother to go to the Brixton gig this year and it's only a half hour bus ride from my house. It's boring hearing the same stuff over and over.

AGREE!!!
I`m loyal to the band,
no matter what they play as long as they play.
Still the setlist is good year after year.
MOTÖRHEAD visit here so rarely we respect the band,
just only they exist.
We stand by the band to the end.
LEMMY lives forever, long after we all are gone.
Motörhead is like religion.
Like Lemmy once said;
Rock`n roll is only true religion.

I first saw Motorhead in Aberdeen with Saxon supporting in the late 70's.
I then went to uni in Edinburgh in 1980 and saw the Iron Fist Tour. This was in a massive old cinema. The support band came and went and they shut the old cinema curtains.
Lights dimmed.
Cheers went up.
Curtains opened.
Nothing there. Just this masssive gauntlet opening and closing to a fist. An Iron Fist.
AND THEN Motorhead came down from the ceiling !!!!
The whole fucking stage lifted up on steel cables 50 - 60 feet.
The crowd went mental.
I have seen them nearly every UK tour since then.
I lived in Southend for a long time and saw them there and in Cambridge and in London.
I now live in Margate and saw them last year in Southampton and this year in Brixton.
You know what ? Once I get my ticket I still look so forwrd to seeing them again.
I first saw Motorhead when i was 17. I am now 50. I have a good well paid job and my life is pretty good. But the only thing constant in it has been Motorhead.
Girlfriends come and go.
Friends move away.
Parents die.
But for me Motorhead, actually Lemmy, has always been there.
So when some twat comes on this forum and says that he "only lives a half hour from Brixton" and he can't be bothered going to see them .... I am glad .... REALLY GLAD ... cos it means a real fan got the pricks ticket !!

Great words my friend, Amen to that!
Motörhead has always been there for me so i`m always there for the band so to speak.
So why not come out and support the band and have a good night out?!
I travelled from Sweden (once again) to see the band play at Brixton and i had a great night.
Seen the band around 40 times by now and they have never let me down.
Of course some nights are better then others but that goes for all bands i think.

Cheers to everybody out there!

Daniel/Sweden

One of the albums I listen to more is Live Blitzkrieg On Birmingham '77 (Plugged In) (11 songs) and also the first gig (7 songs) and putney pub (2/3 songs) bootlegs so if Motorhead do a 2 song gig I'd still go and see them.

Don´t kill the goose with the golden egg!

Wonderful to see the "real" fans acting like they´re stuck in Iran and chained to the Ayatollah!

I go to every MH show when they come my way. I like all their shows. It´s just that thing with the setlist!

Cheers to you all! Saturday! Hell yeah! (STEVE VAI live tonight!)

Spanker, Rick and the others..
Thank you very much for the support on this subject.
I am new to this Forum and didn't know how my comments would be received.
But I cannot bear it when people criticise the set list or the band... just in case they don't carry on! (my biggest fear)
No genuine Motorhead fan would criticise the setlist or miss any decent chance to see the band live.
I first saw them in Bradford aged 15. (Overkill tour) and I am now 48. A balding married bloke, just earning a normal living.
Motorhead have been there for me through thick and thin, they have given me nothing but GOOD times, to see me through some bad times such as divorce etc.
I will always, ALWAYS be there for them.

Fantastic gig as usual. I gotta agree with some of the previous posters though, the gig did feel a bit shorter this year for whatever reason. Bit disappointed that they didn't play Orgasmatron after all, but stonking brilliant gig overall. I was right at the front and almost got crushed to death by the heaving masses behind me pushing to the front, never mind getting dry-raped by enthusiastic headbangers behind me.

Because of that though, I couldn't record as much footage as I would have liked but I was glad to record Rock It (one of my favourite tracks!) and Chase Is Better Than The Catch.

I also cheekily recorded the soundcheck audio. Have a look if you like.
