Here's another link with a couple of theories about what he may have used to obtain his sound back in the Hawkwind days amp-wise.
Yeah, that's
me theorizing there!
However, I remember asking him a similar question back in 1984 and he said he used the same heads he'd used in Hawkwind, stolen back from Hawkwind just after he'd been fired from them in front of the hopping-mad 'drum empire'! He then painted over them in matt black [...]
Yeah, I've heard that story as well -- and while it may not be (wholly) untrue, the fact (as you refer to in your previous post) that Murder One was made in 1976 means that Lemmy must have acquired
it, at least,
after he left Hawkwind (in 1975). Perhaps one or both of "No Remorse" or "Killer" were holdovers from the Hawkwind days?
Of course, there's no particular reason a 1992-model Marshall Super Bass from '72 or '73 would necessarily be so much different from one from '76.
Lemmy's tone, on the other hand, certainly sounds different on, say,
Space Ritual as compared to
Bomber!

It might be that he's just dialed up the gain (and perhaps increasingly emphasized the mids and treble) on the 1992-model Super Bass amps, or possibly he once-upon-a-time had older 1959 model JTM100 Super Lead amps that were less gainy and aggressive.
Those are my two theories! At the moment ... I kinda
suspect he did indeed use more or less the same kind of 1992-model Super Basses in the HW days, just with perhaps less gain, etc. But who knows.
