Sometimes people get inspiration from the strangest places, consciously or unconsciously...I was listening to Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band, specifically a track taken from 'Safe As Milk' called 'Sure Nuff 'N Yes I Do'. I had to pinch myself then had to scramble for 'Whorehouse Blues' and compare the two. Listen to 'em back to back like two bastard brothers...

Have you noticed any other tunes that bear resemblance to Motorhead songs?

I always thought Whorehouse Blues was a variation on a standard blues theme to be honest. Another example of a slightly diiferent blues theme being 'shared' is Jesus Just Left Chicago (ZZ Top)

and Ride On (AC/DC)

Or Night Prowler (AC/DC)

and I Won't Cut My Hair (D.A.D.)

Fuck me. That wonderful British sarcasm. Oh, I do miss it so. Or do I? Yes, I think I do. Brought me right down to earth that did. Cheers Rick.
When I first heard 'Going To Brazil', I thought I could hear part of the Auf Wiedersehen Pet theme tune. Then, when I heard 'Nightmare The Dreamtime' I thought I heard an old Hawkwind number in there somewhere. (Btw, there is a reverse version on You Tube revealing the hidden anti-PMRC lyrics)
'Tush' by ZZ Top has certainly been copied a few times...and we all know Mr Kilmister loves them. Not surprising when you see those mid 80's videos with top totty and crunchy boogie and blues licks. Check out their early stuff like Tejas and Rio Grande Mud. It is derivative but it adds something. Obviously, the superb Motorhead versions of Nadine and Hoochie Coochie Man are great examples of this, You Better Run to a lesser extent. Lard, you make a good point about blues themes and sharing.
