hello tooth, i've been to a gig in Dingwall which as i recall aint far from you, but that was in early 90s, The Mission if you rememeber them? Liked at time but don't hold up these days. I'd pay good cash to see hugh and the stranglers play, but one of things i love about them (motorhead style really) is the integrity. Both parties have made clear it'll never happen so little point wishing for it. i guess you get RockNess every year, which occaionally has gems on the lineup

Now I love them both and rate them right up there. I also really like No Prayer, and see it as probably Maiden's most underrated album. It was Fear of the Dark where I started to struggle, and continued to until Brave New World. That said, the song Fear of The Dark is a real highlight live.

Regards Maiden England, it's a superb film of a great set, from a time when Maiden were on fire. Probably not quite got the energy of Live After Death, but the delivery is spot on and the setlist unbeatable. The 7th Son tour was excellent, and seeing the band play Killers (somewhat unexpectedly) remains one of the real highlights of my gig going days.

We had a similar situation down here. I bought 'Somewhere In Time' on the day it was released, and disliked it instantly, couldn't believe my favorite band were using synths.Because of my dislike for it, i was apprehensive about the follow up.

It's funny, these days, whenever i spin 'Somewhere In Time', i'm reminded that it's a superb piece of work, and the ignorance of my youth.

Spot on about Somewhere in Time. I never bothered with it much after the first few months, then I started collecting the double disc CD versions released in 1995. I stuck it on and was instantly blown away. I genuinely couldn't understand why I never loved this album like the ones that had come before. The title track is arguably the bands best ever opener. Certainly up there.

somewher in time seemed to pick up elements of their "prog" side and melodic side, the title track is indeed killer and a superb opener to the show. i always liked the overblown album clsoers and alexander the great i love, must admir "to tame a land" off piece of mind is a favorite though. Feel Adrian smith was in his element on "SIT", the little guitar fills on "sea of madness" are stunning. Admittedly i sound like a fuckin anorak saying that, but its true. I like "heaven can wait" but it always went on a bit live, IMO

Hi Tim dignwall is about 12 miles from me. Lot of history there. during the wars of independance 1290- 1340 it was in Norwegian hands! Still a nice place and a good football team by all acounts (dont know much about the game!) The Beatles played there once! (well Strathpeffer, 2 miles away!)

Hurr hurr!!
Tonight I had a darts match. away in a pub where we often have hassle with the opposition, in Llandudno North Wales.
I noticed the new jukebox and slammed in £2 to play 11 Motorhead songs at high volume.
Fucking fantastic, I hit them with 'Rock n Roll' ... 'We are Motorhead' ... 'Motorhead' ... Terminal Show .... 'Be my Baby' and lots of others.
Be My Baby sounded utterly brutal, and it was on whilst I demolished my opponent, and we won the match.
Happy Days!
