Yeah, Step Down would be a wise choice.

After listening for over 30 years, searching and waiting for alternatives, I understood that there will be no other band like Motörhead. Never.

Thanx for the suggestions!

But I'll stick to "Love me forever" and "Don't let daddy kiss me" until it is proven she can't/won't sing them. ;-) When that fails I'll probably suggest "Silver Machine" (I know, it is not a Motorhead song.)

Cool new thread Iron. I'm a bass player and, from my viewpoint, I'd like to talk about the type of chops that may take a medium musician, or a musician form a rock style that don't exactly the metal style, into a situation on which he may feel hard to master some licks, metal licks, or hard rock licks. That's cool, interesting. I think heavy metal is like jazz: it is out of reach for many musicians, or, for my case for example, I can play metal because I love the bass crunch, semi-distorted stuff, I use plectrum and play with my fingers too, I vary, and feel comfortable by playing Motorhead's tunes if I have to do it for any reason. But it is cool that, once in a Motorhead concert, the three players reach those levels of inspiration, it seems that everything regarding rock and music will be easier, after that, looser. That's a cool thread, sure.

I'd like to have someone here in this thread who talked about Lemmy's bass chords. From what I can see by watching Motorhead live, he plays two string chords, but I've also seen a couple of pics where it seems he's fretting three and four strings, as in a chord, and not only as if resting the other fingers while fretting with one or two. Also, when he starts playing the riff in any given tune, I can see that often he plays one string and then another. It is that metal asks for bass and guitar playing the same riff.

Lemmy does indeed use short cords (2 strings) and 3 and 4 string chords.

For a full E on the bass it would be:

Est open
Ast E(7th fret)
Dst B(9th fret)
Gst E(9th fret)

Short chord E:

Est open
Ast E(7th fret)

OR:

Ast E(7th fret)
Dst B(9th fret)

OR:

Est open
Ast E(7th fret)
Dst B(9th fret)

These variations cover pretty much every chord lemmy plays
Just swap for whatever key or chord you need, the finger placings stay the same.

Such as full A chord would be:

Est (Not played)
Ast open
Dst A(7th fret)
Gst E(9th fret)

As for riffs,he will often have an open string playing the root note whilst he plays the riff over the top, such as in I'll Be Your Sister
