At the end of the day, AC/DC is simple Rock N' Roll that's written and performed well by five people who clearly know how to play. It's not important how deep the rhythm aspects are, it's meant to be easy music for people to groove to and easy for musicians to pick up and jam along to without spending hours learning it.

So you're saying "it's easy" but you can't do it? How can something be easy if it's difficult to do it? That's a total contradiction - or plain nonsense (no offense meant!).

It is not important WHAT a bass player plays, it's important HOW he does it. Cliff Williams is f*cking brilliant at delivering a solid stream of 8ths, something very few bass players can do. People like him have my biggest respect.

After listening for over 30 years, searching and waiting for alternatives, I understood that there will be no other band like Motörhead. Never.

To be honest, I wouldn't like to play bass like Cliff does. But let's be honest, we'd all do it for the money he's getting.

Oh aye, Cliff will be extremely well paid for being a member of AC/DC. I've no idea whether he feels the music is stretching him enough but who in their right mind would give up such a lucrative gig?

I presume the Young brothers take the lion's share of the money generated by the band. It seems they now write all the songs (including lyrics), has Brian Johnson been cut out off the publishing equation?

Malcolm will get the most because it's his band. Him and Angus have written all the songs so they get the money from those. Brian will get paid royalties for any songs he wrote lyrics for - and BTW he's written AC/DC lyrics too in recent years.

Cliff and Phil will probably get a wage but it'll be about a million quid a year!

I don't think I said I couldn't do it. I said I had never bothered to learn his stuff. I am an amatuer with some nice ideas for basslines but ultimately too lazy to become as accomplished as I could have. therefore I would be a lot sloppier than a pro like cliff.

I would say that it is important both what AND how a bassist plays.

I was a bit pissed last night when i posted, by the way. Probably a bit defensive as well.

How about we move this discussion to its own thread, where I will liekly do some backtracking.

I think Brian Johnson struggles (vocally) on stage these days but I don't intend that as a criticism. He is into his 60s and his voice has taken a lot of punishment over the years. I doubt if ACDC will undertake another mammoth world tour and it's wise to catch them while you still can.

Brian or Bon? That's a tough one. Bon led the band during their up-and-coming years but the big international breakthrough came with Brian at the helm.

Sorry to keep on the subject of AC/DC and Motorhead, but "Voices From The War" is a pretty blatant rip off of the best guitar riff ever, "Let There Be Rock".
