At the ripe old age of 43 I finaly took the plunge this Christmas, or more precisely my wife pushed me in and bought me an electric guitar and practice amp. In order to get much practice in I need to play evenings whilst the kids are in bed, so I need headphones. Can anyone recommend a decent, relatively inexpensive pair that I should look at, or will any headphones do? I ain't overly bothered if they have Warpig on the side to be honest, I'd rather get a decent pair that sound good. Be grateful for any of you guys thoughts cheers.

Glad to hear that you got a guitar mate!
It will reward you over and over again.

I plug into my pc so I control everything within that.
As for what headphones...
It doesn't have to be a specialist pair,if you already have a set that you use for listening to music, they will be just fine.

If not, spend what you can reasonably afford because without spending a LOT of money, most are much of muchness.
I use a pair that cost me £10:00 from Argos.
Simply because it is not about getting a complete sonic spectrum from them like listening to music,it is just so you can hear yourself playing in the night hours smile

Look on ebay, as long as they have a jack-plug you'll be fine.

A couple of quid can even land you a pair on ebay!

Thanks fellas, just what I wanted to hear. Im off to Argos in the morning, much to the rest of the families relief. I am a week in and sound awful, but am loving it. Not sure why it took me over 30 years from when I 1st got into guitar music to do this, but better late than never.

That's funny. About 12 months ago (at 42), after threatening of a "comeback" (mid life crisis maybe?!), i bought myself a bass and amp after having not played in over 20 years (i played from age 17 'til about 21). After relearning a few licks/runs, i was hooked all over again. I've also found plugging in and bashing away for an hour or two to be a great stress release!

It's a great feeling when you nail that first riff! Turn everything up to 11 and rock on lard!
