You know what Nigel-I have never listened to Hawkwind. In all my years that ive been into rock/metal/ or any sort of music ive never bothered with them.Maybe growing up with Motorhead/Metallica/Anthrax etc I categorised them into some soft hippy shit(even though they probably aren't!!!!}.
Strange eh!! perhaps I will have to get one of their albums

Mark...
Yeah I can understand that.
But there was so much about Hawkwind that was more rock than hippy.

Album's like "Hall of the mountain grill" are well worth listening to as an introduction.
"Space ritual" is regarded as a classic album, huge heavy rock sound with many of the songs developing into jamming sessions.

Later on in their career they did catch on with the rock audience with albums like Live '79 and Chronicles of the black sword.

Youtube is good place to have a listen to a track or two and see what you like the sound of.

Found a clip I'd never seen before on a quo page on Youtube , presume was a UK show from June 1984 called Sky Trax Metal Show, has Lemmy and Rick PArfitt from Quo presenting, sure many of you have seen it, enjoy if you haven't

Mark I've been listening to Space Ritual a fair bit lately and its not bad
As Nigel says about the Hawklords I'm probably gonna go to Ipswich in April.
Space Ritual live is worth a listen mate.
Though the tour is not Hawklords but the Psychedelic Warlords.
