Yeah, JCM900s are clearly visible onstage in (for example) the Stage Fright video, though the editing is too fast for me to be able to see much of how they might be configured! laugh

The JVM410s are pictured in a recent post on Paul Marshall's blog, but not clearly enough that I can see them there either.

I know Phil has used various amps over the years -- and doubtless still does in the studio -- though is live rig seems to have been mostly Marshalls of late. There's an amusing interview with Lemmy and Phil from just after Sacrifice here in which Lemmy slags off JCM 800s: "They're garbage"! wink "We're gonna try and get him [Phil] an old stack," Lemmy pronounces. I guess Phil's still happy with newer ones, though. cool

Well, the JCM900s are blamed for their diodes in the pre-amp.
Total rubbish, they can sound great. The problem is only in peoples heads: If-its-not-all-tube-it-cant-be-good. Bla bla.

However, the 900s are a very nice thing as "tuning objects". A skilled amp tech dude can tweak them to *really* good sounds.
I once had one, but sold it. Today I use a (tuned) 6100LM for guitar playing. Best heads Marshall ever made smile

After listening for over 30 years, searching and waiting for alternatives, I understood that there will be no other band like Motörhead. Never.

Well, I'm certainly not one to object to not-all-tube: these days, I use digital models! grin And I've heard a lot of great stuff out of all kinds of amps (or amp simulations). It's about the player, not so much the gear ....

I do enjoy geeking out over the gear, though. cool

Phil has playing already on Line 6 amps in studio ! We can hear it on "Hammered". In my opinion, this is one of the best Motörhead's product and the sound is amazing ! But, on stage, a Marshall stack is the best stuff for Motörhead !

I'm trying to learn the guitar, I bought an acoustic to start off with and would also like to play an electric or bass at some point.

Does anyone have any tips on the best digital tuners out there? Good value for money of course, and will be using it on an acoustic at first. Thanks.

do you have an iPhone? Lots of free tuners as app.

Yes and it's possible too on Mac with Garageband for exemple ! But a chromatic tuner is the best solution ever and it's not very expensive (in france...). For accoustic guitar, you could buy a special tuner what you could put on the head of the guitar for a best tunning ! Do you understand me ? I hope so !
