Play above, or near the neck with your plectrum. That makes a different sound than playing near the bridge. The handrest on a Rick is there for a reason! ;-)

hello all!just joined yesterday.been lurking awhile and decided to join up.been
eyeballing this thread and seen alot of cool posts so i figure i'd get in on it.

been playin guitar 26 yrs or so.played bass in cover bands yrs ago.currently in a crusty,punk,grind band called Mourning Scar.recording a cd and getting a website together at the moment.

i listen to tons of different stuff and have a pretty huge CD collection.yet im not really a collector.i enjoy rock as much as punk and death metal as much as instrumental guitar music.i would say my fav bands are...Motorhead,Aerosmith('73-'84),Phobia(southern california grind,punk band)and Black Flag.also love Vai,Govan,Gilbert,etc...

the gear has served me well.most of it is pretty recently purchased.im kinda a gear whore.buy/sell try out new stuff and upgrade.i also have a Cameron Amplification Aldrich mod on order.but wont get that til February after its debut at Winter NAMM.

Folks, one question:

Some time ago I've noticed that Lemmy seems to play songs differently than he used to play them "back then".

When watching videos or live in concerts, it seems to me that he plays some stuff a quint higher.
One good example is "Stay Clean". The original recording on Overkill has a pretty deep bass. The main riff is played on the E-string (tuning was Eb). Today he plays it on the A-string.
The same seems to be the case for "The Chase Is Better Than The catch" and other songs.

Has anyone else noticed that and can confirm my observation?
