7th Son is a classic album IMO. Really looking forward to Download and seeing them revisit the setlist of the time (sort of) on the Maiden England tour. Saw it first time round on the 7th Son tour in '88 and it was superb.

On a related note, I see that the maiden England VHS is finally getting a DVD release next month, along with a CD and vinyl release. I have the VHS and the VHS/CD combo from '88 and '94, but they lack the encore tracks (the CD also lacks 2 other tracks). These have been restored so it's the full set.

My favorite Maiden release, a classic among many Maiden classics.

The original 'Maiden England '88' was impossible to find down here, as a result, apart from a few clips on youtube, i've never seen it. Can't wait for the re-release.

i wentn through a bit of love/hate thing with 7th son, but time shows it's a belter. Hard pushed to pick fault with most Maiden 80s releases, no prayer for the dying opend the 90s well but is criminally underrated. roll on maiden motorhead and mastodn at donington!!

I think when 7th Son came out I, along with my Maiden loving mates, was still reeling from the synths on Somewhere in Time. We hoped they'd ditch them on 7th Son and they just seemed to add even more. At the time it was as you say a real love/hate thing, for both those albums. Now I love them both and rate them right up there. I also really like No Prayer, and see it as probably Maiden's most underrated album. It was Fear of the Dark where I started to struggle, and continued to until Brave New World. That said, the song Fear of The Dark is a real highlight live.

Regards Maiden England, it's a superb film of a great set, from a time when Maiden were on fire. Probably not quite got the energy of Live After Death, but the delivery is spot on and the setlist unbeatable. The 7th Son tour was excellent, and seeing the band play Killers (somewhat unexpectedly) remains one of the real highlights of my gig going days.

Yeah FOTD was a weakish record but the title track redeems it, also like "judas my guide". The cracks between bruce and steve were very evident though. We saw them at wembley wtih anthrax opening which was superb on 7th son, but then they did a show at hammersmith whcih should have been the crowning glory of the tour cos they were always superb there and it was the worst show i've seen them do, not their fault but entirely the crowd, no singing along crap atmosphere, Harris was livid and i could see why, very odd to see them at hammersmith without a partisan crowd well into it.
I was lucky enough to have frontrow seats for 2 of the somewhere in time hammersmith gigs, i say lucky but we did queue from about 4am to get them, pete ways band waysted opened on that tour if i recall right, great gigs. "Stranger in a strange land" and "deja vu" are partculr favorites of mine to this day

Keyboards, fucking hate them, or did backin the day. The Damned loved them, first 2st albums before never mind the bollocks, the stranglers not till the 90s. SoI can identify with the fuck keyboards thing! Still very fond of Maiden!!!!

We had a similar situation down here. I bought 'Somewhere In Time' on the day it was released, and disliked it instantly, couldn't believe my favorite band were using synths.Because of my dislike for it, i was apprehensive about the follow up.

It's funny, these days, whenever i spin 'Somewhere In Time', i'm reminded that it's a superb piece of work, and the ignorance of my youth.

time heals, so they say, i loved somewhere in time and still do but 7th son was tough for me. still a great band, final frontier certainly had it's moments

tooth, i loved and still love damned/stranglers, see the damned annually and anyone that says keyboard dont work should hear "curtain call" live! strugggle with teh stranglers these days, often watch hugh cornwell live but the 3/4 of original lineup is hard work cos of the current singer. fairplay they pull good crowds, but my opinion is they are a shadow of the powerful 4-piece cornwell fronted

Hi Tim, the keyboard put me off curtain call for many years. Like it now though. Totally agreeabout the stranglers, the first line up is the only one that worked for me!

Anthrax? I drew the bloody short straw then. We had Killer Dwarfs support when I saw the 7th Son tour. Highlight of their set was seeing a grown man (their vocalist) peddling round the stage on a childs tricycle. The Hammy gig on that tour that you saw, was that one of the first dates there (before the Wembley dates) or the date after (last date of the tour)? If it was the last one, wasn't that Adrian's last show before he quit to persue a solo career?
