I am going to see Motorhead live in July at the Mayhem Festival. I am 18 years old and I only know a few obvious songs by them but I want to really start to get into them. Now to the question. If you had a friend who said they had never listened to Motorhead but want to, what album would you recommend to them in order to get the full Motorhead experience?

My first album was Orgasmatron. That album got me totally hooked and I've been a huge fan ever since.

Early: Overkill

Later: Inferno

One tip, don't listen to live tracks before you go see them live, it'll spoil the experience.

Just buy the 'No Remorse' compilation, its great and they do at least 6 of those tracks live, even to this day.

Definitely a good starting point for the early stuff. If you want a taster of their stuff since, check out 1916, We Are Motorhead, Inferno and The World is Yours. That ought to cover most bases.
