"After I die, there'll be no Motorhead because you couldn't get a singer to do this or play bass like that. You probably could but it wouldn't really work. Mikkey Dee is like that. Phil Campbell is almost there too. People you just can't replace. I'll continue until I fuckin' drop dead." (1996)

"It would be a good place to die, on stage. Well, what's the alternative? Die in bed sick and old?" (1996)

"Lets hope that I fall with some grace. I'll probably land on some ugly tattooed woman. What keeps us going? Just dogged persistence. A refusal to lie down and play dead. If we break up and give, then a lot of people I don't like were right. I won't fucking give it to them. A lot of people I do like would be right as well, and I wouldn't give it to them either." (1998)

"The thing is, why would I pack it in? Because I'm good at what I do, and we fill a niche that would be unfilled forever if we went, because there's nobody like us. And you deserve us, anyway. (2000)

Lemmy’s death wish

MOTORHEAD legend Lemmy has professed he hopes to die onstage ‘like Tommy Cooper.’

But the 62-year-old Anglesey-born rocker, whose songs include Killed by Death, is sure however he goes, he’s going to hell.

The one-time Jimi Hendrix roadie said: “Hopefully I’ll die onstage like Tommy Cooper. I always thought he went out really well – to the sound of laughter. I want people clapping and laughing and shouting hooray.

“It would be awful to go off down the tunnel with ‘boo’ ringing in your ears.

“I am going to hell though. That is where all the pool tables are.”

The singer also revealed he is a big fan of the Beatles, ZZ Top and ‘90s funk metallers Living Colour.

He hopes to one day make a record as good as Tres Hombres or Tejas by ZZ Top.

He said: “I haven’t come close yet, but we’re working on it.”

LEMMY BLASTS RETIREMENT SUGGESTIONS

Veteran MOTORHEAD rocker LEMMY has slammed suggestions he should retire to make way for younger bands, because he’s adamant his group is still at the top of its game.
The 61-year-old sees no reason for Motorhead to quit, especially as the heavy rockers have always remained true to their roots.
In an interview with website Snuff.co.nz, Lemmy says, "Somebody said to me recently that I should retire and make room for some young ones and I said: ‘F**k you! I haven’t seen anyone better than me, so why should I jack it in?’ "People think rock ‘n’ roll is all about teenage rebellion, but why can’t there be old rebels as well? "If people find the sight of an older guy playing rock ‘n’ roll distressing to their eyes, they can just not watch
. Some people get better as they get older, if they really care about what they’re doing, which I do.
"Certainly, I’ve never done this for the money, because we’ve never sold many records
. A lot of crap bands are millionaires, but not us."

"It'd take death to stop Motörhead. Even if you physically cripple us, we'd still make records."
