I just remember the view all 'Head fans had at the time it came out. After 'Spades' & 'Hammersmith' Motorhead had finally got to the top & then shot themselves in the foot with 'Iron Fist'.

Even Lemmy himself said in 2000 that the 'Iron Fist' album was (& I quote as I have a radio interview with him) "Bad. Really inferior to anything we had done previously".

One question though; why wasn't 'Remember Me I'm Gone' put on the album instead of being saved for a b-side? It was better than a lot of the tracks that appeared on the album.

Thats the same problem like rock n roll album and b-sides songs "power.." and "cradle to the grave". You can ask why "over the top" is b-side too?

Well 'Over The Top' like 'City Kids' & 'Motorhead' were actually written for Hawkwind (even though Lemmy did write them all apart from 'City Kids' although all three tracks were recorded by both bands).

Digging up an old thread about an old album...Iron Fist simply kicks ass! This thing is packed with great tunes, and lots of fast tempos. The most common complaint about this album is regarding the "thin" production, which I do hear on some songs, but not on most of them. If you play the album as loudly as you should play any MH album, then the production doesn't seem to matter as much, anyway, and the true power of the band comes through.

I don't think so.

"City Kids" (Larry Wallis, Duncan Sanderson).
Hawkwind never played it or recorded it to my knowledge

Over The Top...
The Over The Top that hawkwind did was a live improvised jam that has nothing in common with Motorhead's Over the top.
Motorhead's Over The Top wasn't written until several years after Lemmy left Hawkwind.
So the only track that both bands did do is "Motorhead",and of course tracks like "The Watcher"
