LEMMY FOREVER STOKE-ON-TRENT CEREMONY & STATUE UNVEILING ON MAY 9th

On Friday May 9th, one of Burslem’s most famous sons – Motörhead founder and bassist/vocalist Lemmy Kilmister – will be honoured and further immortalized during the Lemmy Forever Stoke-On-Trent Ceremony.

With Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell attending to place Lem’s ashes in a magnificent statue created by local sculptor, and huge Motörhead fan, Andy Edwards, the day is going to be filled with fun, friends, and some volume too. The ceremony will commence in Burslem town center at approximately 4pm, with friends invited to come early and make a day of it by enjoying some pre-ceremonial Motörhead beverages at the various site-adjacent hostelries including Old Post Office bar and Ale House, while the Market Place Café will also have refreshments, including a special Motörhead roast of the day.

Some of the ceremonial festivities will include a biker’s corteo accompanying the ashes, various speakers, and a roaring 21-rev salute which will hit the skies in ceremonial reverence! The statue itself captures Lemmy in all his live glory from the 1981 era, which saw Motörhead headline the Heavy Metal Holocaust just down the road at Port Vale Stadium back on August 1st 1981.

Here are some more details on what people can expect and some of the services which will be available on the day:

The Bare Walls Art Gallery next to the statue will be displaying an installation featuring rarely seen photographs of Lemmy in their space along with other memorabilla.

Later in the evening, Grumpy’s bar will host A Night of Music to Celebrate the Life of Lemmy, hosting the Motörhead tribute band Motörwrecked, as well as hosting an auction of exclusive items supplied by Motörhead’s record label and merchandise companies. The auction is practically sold out, but we have held back a very limited number of wristbands for people to get on the day, available on a first-come-first-served basis on the day from the event office, which can be found at The Old Post Office Bar, and costing £10. No sleep til Grumpys!  There will also be exclusive merchandise available at The Old Post Office.

Music Mania will also be hosting an event at the Mitchell Arts Centre in Hanley from 7.30pm to 10.30pm featuring Motörhead tribute band Motörheadache, with tickets at £18. CLICK HERE for further details

For those driving to the event, parking will be available at Port Vale Football Club, a 7 minute walk away, and if arriving by train, Ace Taxis will be available to get from the station to the event via 01782 822228.

For those who need accommodation, special rates are available at the DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke-On-Trent via Lemmy2025 rates. Call +44 1782 609988 or go here for more info.

MOTÖRHEAD For Life…Lemmy Forever!

We’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of Motörhead as Lemmy would have wanted, at Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood. The event, open to all, will have exclusive merch, giveaways, a performance by Murder One and more! Join us from 6 PM till late!

Back in November 2016, Rainbow Bar & Grill dedicated its patio to Lemmy and re-named it “Lemmy’s Lounge.” It was a fitting gesture from the Rainbow, as when Lemmy wasn’t touring or recording, the majority of his waking hours were spent on said patio. There was already a life-size bronze statue immortalizing Lemmy at the Rainbow, which attracts fans from all over the world, and Lemmy’s Lounge allows hardcore fans and casual patrons alike to sample the wares and atmosphere that Lemmy loved so much.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, the ashes of Motörhead’s legendary frontman Lemmy Kilmister were enshrined at West Hollywood, California’s famous Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip.

Come celebrate Motörhead Day, Thursday, May 8th in the band’s 50th Anniversary year at Lemmy’s favorite hangout, the Rainbow.

There will also be free Motörhead flash tattoos available on 8th May at The Estate Tattoo
(813 Centennial St, Los Angeles, CA) from 4pm to 7pm, so make sure to get some fresh ink before heading to the Rainbow!

Other bars and clubs across the land and sea will be engaging in 8th May festivities, check Motörhead official socials for the latest info.

MOTÖRHEAD 50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR KICKS OFF

We are celebrating our 50th year in 2025 and in honor of this historic milestone, a series of releases and events will take place throughout the year. Having played live to millions of fans, and sold over 25 million albums in our career we stand proud that we continue to inspire and attract a new generation of young fans.

In 2024, we enjoyed a brand new UK top 10 single in October with “Lawman”, racked up over 320 million streams globally, numbered 20 million listeners on Spotify, and garnered over 112 million views on YouTube.

Starting with a very special release to be announced in May, the year 2025 will be a celebration that confirms Motörhead is for life and Lemmy is Forever.

Kicking off the celebrations will be special 50th anniversary, limited vinyl editions of Motörhead’s breakthrough albums; Overkill, Bomber and Ace Of Spades. These are all cut as half speed masters, pressed as special colour configurations and all include an exclusive poster to be released on 28th February for our new generation of fans and collectors.

Then on May 9th, a very special Lemmy Forever ashes event will take place –  the unveiling of a Lemmy statue in his birthplace of Stoke-On-Trent. Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell will place the ashes and lead the celebrations.

The sculptor of the piece is renowned British artist Andy Edwards (who has previously done statues of The Beatles, Bob Marley, and The Bee Gees among others).

“This new statue of Lem is special, not just because I share the same birthplace as him or because of how much he personally means to me, but because it’s so important to have a permanent international landmark celebrating him where he was born,” says Edwards. “Lemmy gave me joy, confidence in myself, and energy, and he’s also an avatar of the original spirit and power of Rock n Roll. I really hope it will become a meeting place for people from all over the world to take the journey to.”

“To be able to see Lemmy further immortalized in his place of birth by Andy’s amazing statue is a huge deal,” says manager Todd Singerman. “This man left the building 10 years ago, yet he remains not only with us, but is even more popular than ever. It’s because Lemmy stood for honesty, integrity, inclusion, and making the greatest, loudest rock’n’roll possible. Let’s face it, there is only one Lemmy and the world continues to celebrate him and his music loudly and proudly.”

To whet your appetite for a year of Motörhead celebrations, you can now watch a new, HD version of their first ever TV performance from 25th October 1978 on the BBC’s flagship Top Of The Pops show, performing ‘Louie, Louie’. Click here!

There will be plenty of other celebrations happening throughout the year, so keep your eyes, ears, fingers and toes peeled……and remember…

Motorhead Remorse? No! CD BMG
