The sculptor responsible for the powerful new statue of Lemmy Kilmister has been officially recognized for his work. Artist Andy Edwards was named one of three recipients of the Civic Pride Award at Staffordshire’s Your Heroes Awards 2025, following the unveiling of his tribute to Lemmy in the icon’s hometown of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, this past May.
Speaking with BBC Radio Stoke, Edwards described the moment as “unbelievable,” adding that the honor took him entirely by surprise. “I’ve got to acknowledge the kindness of all the people who put me forward. It means an incredible amount to me,” he said.
Since its unveiling, the statue has drawn visitors from roughly 60 countries, becoming a point of connection for fans and travelers alike. Edwards noted that artworks like this can “centre people and give them something in common that they feel moved by”—a fitting sentiment for a tribute to a man whose music united generations across the globe.
The ceremony recognized 27 individuals for their contributions to the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire community, with Edwards’ work standing tall among them—just as Lemmy always did.
